It's a pretty amusing read, if for no other reason than that the Gamecyte folks end up spending a little type aboard the Lady Washington, an actual sailing vessel. Good for a couple chuckles, at the very least.![]()

"MTW is not a game, it's a way of life." -- drone
As I read this, I can't help but think of the motion of ships in the waves. I wonder how much they will rise and settle with passing waves. How violent will the weather be? A violent sea with equally behaving ships would actually be very exciting. Now, in saying this, I must admit that I am a land battle man. I never gave much thought to this new CA introduction.
But if they got this right...
I will not get my hopes up. I doubt they can match the potential.
Again your dealing with playability vs historic accuracy.
Sid Meiers Pirates is fun, is it historic, not really
Now yes ETW will be more historic but they still have to get the majority of people to buy it.
I personally don't want my battles lasting 5-6 hours, I don't have that much time in a night.
I'm sure it will be sail up, sail up, fight, board, done.
How to actually fight will depend on my mood. If I dont like the country or I'm angry, I shall just blow the ship up. But something about boarding has always attracted me.
If I'm really angry, surround the ship in question with two of my own and double broadside...![]()
I am fine with fifteen minute naval battles, but then I have never been a big fan of naval conflict. I will quickly end up using auto-calc on all but the large and critical naval battles anyway. I think that it is obvious that anyone expecting a highly detailed and accurate naval sim will be disappointed.
