Thread: How are government restirctions on units implemented?

Default How are government restirctions on units implemented?

What I mean is this: If I create a level 4 government, does the game make it so I can't create the high level faction barracks, or can I still create them, just not recruit the high level units?

    Just wondering, thanks!

You cannot create the high level barracks.

You can exploit it by making a level 4 gov., building the highest regional barracks, then destroying the lvl 4 gov and building a lvl 1 or 2 gov, so you could build the highest factional barracks while having the highest regional barracks as well.

It doesn't AFAIK. After the government is destroyed, the availability of certain units changes. Especially if you move from a type 4 to a type 1 or 2 governemnt.

Government buildings do not directly affect availablility of units. To do so would cause CTDs.

I'm pretty sure it works. I've had the situation a couple of times, where I decided to upgrade my government, but the regional units were still available...

It does work. You are right. I have tried doing in myself in Arpi, playing as the Romani.

That's very interesting. I will do it myself too.

    That's obviously a blatant exploit.

Indeed. It is discourged to use this exploit. This exploit would be made impossible if it were possible, but doing so would add tons of text and not work exactly the way it was wanted to.

Well, it all depends on how you see it. If I install a type IV government with a level 4 regional MIC in Thraikia, playing as Makedonia/Epeiros, and I have it stay there for 50+ years, and then decide to build a type I/II government, you could see it that the Epeirotes/Makedonians liked the Thracian way of fighting, and gave them the right to keep training in their own manner.

agreed... in the end you just have to find a justification to RP it, hehe.

Exactly. "move_character"? I don't know what happened, some things are just...unexplainable!
