    Default Hayasdan homeland

    Hi guys!
This question may sound stupid but exactly when when can you change armavir to a homeland??I mean i of course read the faq and i quote it "Part1:-Upgrade Armavir to a Large Town
-Build in Armavir a (market), (roads), (town_garrison)(L1 law), and (sanitize)(L1 health).
= (Homeland resource will appear in Armavir)" but in the post "Hayasdan unit guide" gamegreek2 answers
"2. Build (roads-800 mnai 2 turns) and (garrison/city defenders-2000 mnai 6 turns) in Armavir. Meanwhile, raise a small army to seize the town of Kabalaka, to the northeast. DO NOT build new governments in the new provinces.
    3. Once you've built the aformentioned buildings, Homeland Resource should appear in Hayasadan/Armavir. Destroy the (Lv 3 government/Marz/Satrapy) and build a (Lv 1 Government-10 turns 2400 mnai)."
Wich is the right one? And also by market does he mean lev4? because in that city there is already a market and the upgrade is called market district or district of merchants.
One more thing:when pahlava attack as who sould i stay allied with? the seleucids and get about 20 extra turn of peace or partia?
    thx in advance

They are basically the same thing, except the FAQ lists more. Some of the buildings might be in the town when you start and you won't actually need to build them. I think the market is the second level, maybe third.

As for your alliance, its up to you. If you are ready to face the Seleukids, stick with Pahlava and each take a half of the AS. If you can't defend against the Seleukids, stick with them and wait for them to betray the alliance in a few years.

Sorry i didn't explain myself well enough..... if you look at this part from the faq :"(town_garrison)" and this from gamegreek2 "(garrison/city defenders-2000 mnai 6 turns)" the city defenders are the upgrade of the garrison so should i get them both?

Okay so anyway i now have all the requirements for the homeland thing, but still no reforms!
Could it be that armavir has to have the minimum of inhabitants of a large town? in other words since i've been recruting a lot from there i don't have more than 1600 people......could this be the reason?

    the opposite!
didn´t know if destroyed the goverment. but if activate the script, build the townupgrade, roads and a small garrison, just wait a turn and homeland appears in the buildingbox (check the second half too, the alliance symbol doesn´t appear)

the homeland marker will spawn in your settlement. You may need to scroll down through the building list for Armavir to see it. Once you see it then you can destroy your government and rebuild a Type I. The old Outlying marker does not disappear.

town_garrison = what it says translates as "town defenders."

I got my info off the official material

You don't need to take Kabalaka to get Homeland in armavir. THAT WAS A GUIDE that assumed you had read the FAQ

You need to build a Market (you start with one), Roads, Town Defenders, and Sanitization. Then destroy the Marz (Satrapy) and build Regional Pacification. Lv1 gov building will be available.

Hi sorry for double posting i don't know why but it won't let me edit.
Anyways i have a couple more questions on hayasdan:
1)could someone tell me or show me a screenshot of the units u get with the pan caucasus reform?
2)Why exactly is it that the initial government tipes available in Armenia are only 3 and 4?
3)I now have all the settlements necessary for a reform, exept for kartakiokerta (i really don't know how to spell that) and the one to the east of it wich is rebel.for about ten turns the seleucids have been sending me armies, both from south west and south east, i am able however to only defeat one at the time so in this turn (wich is more or less 260 b.c. they sent 2 armies again ,however I only saw one and went emediately south west and destroyed it while having some reinfrorcements sent from mtsketa, while they were very close to armavir i noticed an other seleucid army but much bigger ,about one comlete line plus two more "cards" so i sent my spy to check it out.....guess what? it's got 2 generals with 70 bodyguards each (i play on huge unit settings and m\h difficulty) 22 schythed chariots (out of 40) 1 native phalnx of 160 men with three silver chevrons (wich i find impossible to get on huge) 1 unit of seleucid elite with about 70 or 80 men and some really weak auxiliaries.my closest armie consists of 1 caucasian spearmen,1 armenian spearmen and 1 of skirmishirs. What sould I do????????
p.s. i noticed that with a properly skilled diplomat i can get any peace treaty i want with AS except it only lasts 1 turn,it really helps since he cant make a siege if we are not at war,so i was thinking to weaken the army with the reinforcements and while he keeps trying to seige armavir i stall them with peace treatys till my larger armie arrives, what do yall think?

    1) You can easily check all available units for all factions in the Recruitment Viewer program, which I believe is included in the EB install nowadays. The installer is in the Extras folder.

    2) IIRC Armenia was not a unified kingdom like the other factions. The lvl 3/4 represents the challenge of uniting a divided tribal kingdom and the investments needed to do that. In a very good and fun way I might add.

    3) Some prefer going all HA using the Scythians from the Kartli province. I usually try to build a lvl 3 native barracks to get a production of Native Phalanxes. Then I use bridge blocking/gate blocking/any other cheesy tactic that keeps me alive. If you have the manpower you should try raiding into the AS heartland. Seleucia and Babylon have a lot of expensive buildings, a lot of people to massacre and usually are very underdefended. If you are lucky you might even get away with keeping them for yourself. I usually leave again though. Let the Greeks pay for rebuilding while you spend your cash improving Armenia.

Good luck to you. If you fail, don't give up. Hayasdan is a difficult faction but they are imo the most fun one as well.

    2) Because at our start period there was no powerful centralised Armenian Kingdom. Not until the Artashes did Armenia become unified under one king.

Was it still a confederation during the Yervanduni (Orantid) dynasty as well?

Strabo reports that it was only with the rise of Artashes that Armenia becomes a united nation.

Perhaps this is offtopic, or already been discussed. I apologize if so.

I'm just curious about the army compositions you all use for Hayasdan. I haven't played them all that much, but what I did, it seemed like they were reliant on the awesome FM bodyguards as the core of their army, and the rest I fleshed out with horse archers. Does anyone do it differently? Apart from phalanxes to defend key points, do you actually try to raise an infantry army with these guys or just play them as a HA faction?

I have the low level infantry backed up by archers and slingers, with the Cataphracts ready to flank and attack the enemy after they are engaged.

Here is a great site which covers all aspects of Armenian history also has information on the ancient armenian pantheon (just click on mythology)

well i ususally never use horse archers, just not my type,i rely heavily on caucasian archers and spearmen, i always put them on burning arrows and disable skirmish so while they ditract the enemy with heavy arrow fire and occasionaly hand to hand combat i flank both with cavalry and spearmen. Also i tend to take the fm and chase the enemy general till i kill them so by the time i charge the morale of the enemy is rock bottom and i make a massakre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And artavazd thanks for the link, exactly what i was looking for......
