Is there any situation where you guys use auto_win? Like when fighting levy stacks with good-sized armies composed of "good" units?

I use it when I know that I could win the battle but I get CTD when fighting it on the battle map.
Whenever the inflated number of stars on certain AI generals means that an auto-resolve that I really should win without significant losses would otherwise result in a defeat.
Example: When my SPQR army assaulted a Punic city, the battle screen told me that overall army strength was 2:1 in my favour. The enemy general had a lot of stars. I autoresolved and suffered a crushing defeat - something which definietly should NOT have happened in those circumstances.

That could have happened if the enemy general was that good, otherwise basically all seiges would be won by the attackers easily. He could have used a boundless number of possibilities to turn the odds; seeing as in an auto win the game's restrictions with what you can do don't count.

I use this in my campaigns only to avoid the defeats with ships (Oh really - 4:1 and a crushing defeat??) and if the battle otherwise will get me a CTD.

I use auto_win when the odds are greater than 3:1 in my favor and I don't feel like fighting the battle, or if I'm getting a CTD after the battle. My units tend to suffer more casualties, but they also get more experience and my generals get more command stars.

I use auto_win pretty damn often. I only fight battles myself when...
-I'm uncertain if I would win or not.
-Big armies involved.
-A decisive/Strategic Battle
-I feel like it
Other than that, I auto_win everything. It just becomes too boring to play the game, when every turn you fight the same stupid stacks compromising of a few units. If it wasn't for Auto_win, I would probably quit the game altogether until EBII.
