Why can't I add or edit character names?

First post here for me. Let me start off by stating that I've read all guides, tutorials and threads handling this matter that I've been able to find (and that's a lot).

For no particular reason I ended up registering at twcenter.net first, and posted my question on that forum. As it seems I couldn't get any help from there - not that some people didn't try to help me - I figured my last resort would be to post the same topic here.

Too make a long story short, I'm not able to add any names to the game at all. For whatever reasons I'm stuck with only the vanilla names, which I think is a great pity since game experienced would be considerably enhanced if I could add some historical names.

I sympathise, mate. Had the same problem a while back. Can't give you specific instructions because I'm not too sure myself (I gave up after a bit), but here's the answers I got when I asked the same question, perhaps the answers might be useful.
