    Default Deus Ex

    ...the first one.

I played through the game twice when I first got it in '05, uninstalled it after that because of the huge save-files. I have recently reinstalled it, and am now about halfway (a third?) through the game.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I'm at the Hell's Kitchen level where I have to help Paul send a tranmission of some sort. I've stopped playing for the moment because I'm very annoyed at the game at the moment. I resolved to play a stealth/non-lethal-type who toes the UNATCO line, using the baton and crossbow and sneaking around as much as possible, sucking up to Navarre, etc. (I had previously mostly played the rogue who stole from everyone, smashed everything that wasn't nailed down to pieces and killed everyone including my allies.) I even shot Lebedev immediately in the 747. So it annoys me that I have to help Paul and get caught by Simons and Gunther.

The amazing way I remembered NPCs react to the little things I do (such as Manderley telling me off for being in the women's restroom) seem pretty superficial this time round. And it's a lot more difficult and less rewarding to play a pure sneaker/hacker than a hybrid or just a tank-- about halfway through the first level, I already felt my trigger finger itching, and I remembered why I spent my two previous playthroughs feeding buckshot to everyone else.

So you want to help MJ12 install a world-wide corporate dictatorship?

I think Overlord might be better for you. Actually, based on your style of gameplay, I would recommend Halo. However, I would recommend the Thief/Dark Project series if you want a good sneaker.

    I loved Deus Ex.
    Requesting suggestions for new sig.

The game is AWESOME as a pure sneaker, the baton is your best friend if you figure out how. You have to crouch, and hit them just below their neck, no investments required. Mini-crossbow with tranquiliser darts, can it get any cooler, with pistol expert and a few stabiliser it ROCKS and you can have it maxed out before even thinking about using it because of your LEET baton skills. Trying not to kill anyone is great, I know of only two I had to kill and one of them was just a killswitch,

As i understand it there is only one person you have to kill in the game

But if you look on youtube there is a way around that.... so you dont actually have to kill anyone!

One my favourite 2 games of all time... the storyline is immense!

Theres one or two good mods out if you really like the game, zodiac i think is the best one...

I was always a killing machine!!

I've played this game through so many times that it's downright embarassing

It's absolutely amazing how much detail there is to the levels. I mean things like misc. emails on random computers, stuff hidden in unlikely places that I was still finding at like 5th run through, locations you can get to with creative use of the run/jump and power lifting augmentations, etc.

Since I played it so much I ended up doing some crazy things for fun. Like putting some character asleep and dragging them along through the whole rest of the game. Did that to Manderley, the secretary woman, and Maggie Chow. I'd take them into the Area 51 bunker and dump them on the platform by the plasma field

RTW, 167 BC: Rome expels Greek philosophers after the Lex Fannia law is passed. This bans the effete and nasty Greek practice of 'philosophy' in favour of more manly, properly Roman pursuits that don't involve quite so much thinking.
