    Cool My Trireme

Check out my RC trireme. It is called Triunphus (Latin for triumph). Ive spent 1 year and a half making it. For practicalities sake I only made one bank of oars but maybe I'll add the other two some time in the future. It is 105 cm long (35 m in historical ones) and has 58 oars (historically they had between 170 and 174). It is run by one 12 volt motor( controlled by an electric speed control) and has one servo to control the two large oars/rudders at the rear. there is a onager in the front and on the tower there is a ballista (unfortunately they don't work).

LOL, I think an an anti-sinking system would be a better investment. Where I sail it, the wind and waves get very rough. I've already sunk a 70 cm fishing boat but luckily it was in shallow water so I was able to get it out quickly. Even then my receiver was burnt out.

Where do you sail it if I may ask? It is like way cool! What do you do that you have a year and a half on your hands? Obviously not playing enough EB !

This should probably go in the "You know you play too much EB when..." thread

Seriously though, well done! Is there any room inside for styrofoam? That's your anti-sinking system right there.

Now you need to add a corvus and attack the other sailboats.

Joszen1-ANOTHER SOUTH AFRICAN, Howzat dude, I sail at Sonstraal Dam in Durbanville, Cape Town. I worked on it mainly in the evenings and during the weekends. and if my mother says no to EB during the week I console myself by getting glue covered hands.

You don't think flammable tadpoles would be more efficient, scaring the crews overboard?
Seriously though: It'd be really cool to have the onager and ballista working, especially to see what would happen to the trireme if they are fired while it is afloat!
@ General Aetius: Indeed, another South African, though we are still London to Sicily apart (approximately). Have you explained to your mom the value of education, particularly on peoples and the non-exoticism and rich heritage of the non-hegemonic/barbaric/native cultures, especially to a society-in-structural-change like our country? I tried teaching my mom to play the vanilla (have to start somewhere). On e/e with the Julii she just about managed to take a city, with my help. Much to my surprise she actually played a bit while I was away. Managed to fight two more battles.

    There is always hope.

soup it up even more, then start ramming other boats.

p.s. you can consider creating robotic marines for the boarding action after the ramming..

Wow, amazing. You deserve a balloon for this: .

EDIT: What you should do next is try to make an RC-retractable sail to go with that mast.

Are you prepared to wait more than a year??!

Calvin and Hobbes rules. In this turbulent world it is the source of all my philosophical wisdom and experience. By the way how do I get blue balloons.
What you should do next is try to make an RC-retractable sail to go with that mast.
maybe...maybe one day when I have a bit more spare $$$$ to get a 4 channel RC.
I want a shrink ray. if i have one i'll start press-ganging people to man your trireme!
That would be the ultimate propulsion. I would also shrink myself(making sure there is a way to grow back again) with a couple trusted companions and a taskmaster and go out sailing the four seas.

You get the blue, green and red balloons by viewing the smilies list (slick "more" under your basic list of smilies and then choose "gc" at the top of the smilies list instead of the default "Generic Smilies". There you can Ctrl+F "balloon" and you'll find all three colours.

    Buddy, some questions:

1º Where did you get the construction plans?
2º Did you designed it yourself?
3º What kind of timber is it made from?
4º How did you do the adaptation for the engine to move the rows?
5º Have you considered changing the color of the fabric in the stern, from fuchsia to a more... manly tone ? Red would look great!
6º Have you considered adding an operative sail?

    Great work!!!

    That's a very nice trireme you've created.

Also, balloons can obtained more quickly by typing (between colons):
