are you sure they are going for Proto-Armenian? afaik its impossible, and its going to be a modern version, Grakan. Grabar would be nicer though![]()
Lenin96, is it wise to compare two, nigh-unrelated languages? Or am I totally drunk right now?
He's just saying that the reconstruction of an ancient proto-languahe is not beyond human power.

Fair enough. It is somewhat miraculous on the part of the EB Team to include these dead languages in a computer game (not only written, but spoken too!). I suppose by this point, we should all be expecting more such miracles to occur for EB2. I will.Originally Posted by lenin96

Except there are various daughter languages of Proto-Germanic which you can compare to find the common root, whereas for Proto-Armenian, as far I know, there is only one. I only know of the comparitive method to reconstruct proto-languages, but, when there's nothing to compare a language to (like Grabar)...
Even more difficult would be trying to take various forms of Indo-European words and trying to apply Armenian sound laws to them, as unlike Greek and Sanskrit, Armenian's sounds laws tend to be very erratic. Hence my curiosity as to how the EB team would be going about it! Everything I've read about the Armenian language to date has led me on to believe that it is impossible. :(
