I agree with the "other path", perhaps we could make a "governor's path" instead of a "General's path", and create some new ranks regarding city governorship, perhaps I shall propose this Charter Amendment at the next congressional session as a Dux (which hopefully I might get if I get another clear victory over the Epirotes)

we already have government ranks making new ones like that would be an entirely new proposition to the game. Trust me it works out guys. Prov.Dictators can have their aids its all the same. Also this is Rome there will be PLENTY of action when we go against the Guals guaranteed. And when we get the money there will be a legion for nearly every other general.

In the game you are your character and your character only. You can't be your character + Mars.

I will make my IC entrance tomorrow, I think. It is my opinion though that the typical army should have enough and the right units to allow for the tactic that... err... "Mars" told us to use. It seems much more correct to have it that way. I also have a slight problem with the whole "dictator" thing. Why not consul and co-consul? I do not know what those dudes did historically (Rome is really not my favourite area), but in Camillan times I think "dictator" would be worse no matter what the consuls actually did. -.-

(I am aware that they could become dictator, but this was if I have understood things correctly only for a limited time, and not something they wanted to be permanent. Perhaps adding a rank of dictator that can be held by X person Y time and giving Z benefits, or just have it as it is but with changed names. That's my opinion, at least.)

well since you (desert) made the post I assume you were role-playing your character, Servivs A.P.R (Amicvs Popvli Romani); and it's true we can't adopt the strategy "Mars" showed everyone in a divine vision, since we do not have many units of infantry.
anyway I just realised that as a former client ruler, you can't be adopted into the family because it seems the game would glitch and create a clone of your character (sometimes, as explained in the EB bug reports)
Yes you can be adopted, if you do well in combat you will receive a Man of The Hour and if the benefactor approves you are added to the family tree no problem no bugs. Thats how I got into the family tree in WoTB.

Well see, I am not a senator and would rather not speak to the Senate DIRECTLY.
So if it pleases you, I will say that my character was communicating telepathically with the Senate.

You could perhaps let someone else speak for you instead? Perhaps by telling them through PMs/the agora? If not this, then I think you should rethink this as it doesn't seem to work well with how the game is laid up.

Wait, we don't have an equivalence for the Agora here? I know it isn't used much in WotB, but with Desert's RP it might actually make sense. I also think the reason why it isn't used in WotB is because no one started writing there, but now someone will. I hope I didn't just miss it, though.

Yeah, that's a good idea.

Alternatively, I can post here for something I want everyone to see, or PM for a one-on-one discussion.

So this might be the last time a god will ever speak to a Roman; truly, a day for that should be recorded for posterity.

ya i will have to think up an equivalent for us. And you know i know its fun to create a persona roleplaying here desert but the idea of this game is that we are all senators/generals of Rome trying to vy for power so it makes sense to stick to the premises.

Ehh, Servivs isn't that crazy about being powerful. He just isn't that kind of guy. Also, he is currently a poor, homeless pleb.

Maybe once he dies, my new character will be a power-hungry politician?

Caivs Aemilivs Mamercvs - gloomy, unapproachable, yet with his own personal sense of honor...

Sounds like my kind of guy.

Hey guys i will try and take the save around 12:30 or 1:00 my time, but as i feed homeless people on xmas i may not get back home till 2 or so. So everyone has a couple of extra hours if you want to move to a city or sumthing like that. Next year will finally get this conquest for Taras underway and well really see how we can can handle ourselves. Good luck everyone I hope you earn us our first major battle victory.

well that depends, because since Servivs A.P.R (desert) is joining the Legio I Apulia as a tribunus (unconfirmed), we might need another turn to get everyone all the troops ready to strike immediately, and also there's the trouble with the other accensi unit, which has the same problem as Servivs A.P.R., unless I may move to besiege the city before they arrive.

I wasn't planning on joining the Legion, just shadowing it.

In-game wise, how do you mean?

desert 20:22 12-25-2008
My character will be next to the legion on the map.

Presumably, he will arrive during the siege of Taras.

lol, what is there to vote here?
anyway, we might want to cut down on expenditure, our coffers seem to be getting thinner and thinner every turn, perhaps it might be solved with a quick expulsion and sacking of Taras and its population (although Asina's not selfish enough to do that)

i recommend we just occupy it, make them loyal and then start generating money from its trade through the seas.

very well, but if the public order face is red or blue, I'll expel its population to maintain public order ok?

navarro951 00:40 12-26-2008
well actually its entirely up to you. As they say to the victor goes the spoils. You can IC PM me saying "Emperor what do you recommend I do Blah blah" when you take a city. But thats if you so wish. In all its up to the general who took the city.

Roleplay wise we could expel the populace opposed to Roman Rule or just occupy the city and its lands, but i think enslaving or buthering would be wrong. The Romans view this as their city to take, not as a mighty conquest of enemy lands to weaken their resolve or plunder their riches. We would want this city in working order, it just may take a year or so for the population to accept our rule. We may want to make it an ally of Rome before absorbing it first...ie:Type IV Gov.

I'll tell you this much: Lvcivs Cornelivs Scipio is going to receive a visitor soon after assuming his position as provincial dictator.

How did you guys take Taras so quickly?

One turn, you were still in the fort; the next, Taras had somehow fallen?

Reply
/Bean\ 01:47 12-26-2008
Its in marching distance of one turn, and there was a unit outside the city, so Everyone just attacked that at the garrison was destroyed coming to the rescue.

Reply
everyone 01:55 12-26-2008
yes, I'll get to boast about it more in the battle report.
ok never mind, I'll go back to finishing my report, it's nearly 3 quarters done.

desert 02:04 12-26-2008
Yeah, I'm an idiot.

I should have realized that it was either that or the spy in Taras.
