It is indeed a most tragic day in for the entire Republic. Our great Consul Asina, as fallen taking the life of the brute Conan of Segesta himself. The battle was a rigorous and bloody victory. Our legions attacked both sides and on Consul Asina's flank he was mortally wounded whilst personally cutting Conan's throat. Legatus Cotta was awarded the high honor of Corona Civica for dragging Consul Asina from the battle.

I don't agree with this!

Blasio had higher Influence than 1. According to the Library he had it 3. Thus Edict 3.3 will be a tie, 7-7 and I tie braking vote must be cast by the Dictator.

And if we use currrent Influence when Blasio is Dictator then this Edict will most certainly pass!!

The fact that the Influence is in the Rules then we must obey the rules and thus the votes need to be checked again.
The next time we have a controversial Edict I could demand the same thing that everyones votes should be 1.
If it is in the Rules then we must follow the Rules.

I agree with this. If you want a rule changed, that's what CAs are for. No CA used, no rule changed, and it's still valid and should be followed.

However, if the result was 7-7 then the edict still failed, as rule 3.3 states:

3.3 Edicts

Edicts require a simple majority of votes to pass and remain in effect until the next normal session of the Council.
Tied Edicts fail. If contradictory Edicts are passed, the one with the most votes takes priority.

Or am I missing something here?

But before we could follow this '1 person 1 vote' thing we must change our current rules with a Charter Amendment. Unless that is not done then we have to follow our current rules where some persons have more Influence.

senators with great influence and rhetoric skills could always make the difference, and mighty men could influence others by their opinion, i think the system is not bad as it is. A vote from one man is not = a vote from the other man (note, that in my opinion, there are far more senators, than players that roleplay senators. Man with great influence assure the votes of more of those non-player senators)

OOC: maybe we can get rid of the office of faction leader/heres completely? Make it so we dont even recongize it, and its just a useless ingame thing. We are roleplaying here after all, and romans despised monarchys.

I have actually been playing Pvblivs as passively rebelling against this by refusing to even mention the dictator's rank, because I've always agreed with your sentiment, and still do now. If removing them completely won't happen, then I think that the heir should at least be elected.

By the way, a question: now that Cicero is the heir, will he still be serving as my tribunus?

I mean in actuality ya Dictators were only 6 month things. And not everything were doing in this game is entirely factual, I think mostly actually , so i guess our dictator terms are like Julius Caesars term hehe

I think the better system is the one I suggested. The faction heir/king really messes up the roleplaying aspect of this game. Your basically a dungeon master as of now. Just make it a useless in-game trait and asssign it to the oldest character.

I was sort of thinking that the faction leader be like the senator with the most power in Rome or something...need a name for it. And the Heir would be his closest friend in politics.

The link is a guide for historically accurate rome playing. The consular armies (Early ones) were half italic allies of Rome and half fully roman soldiers.

Okay im thinkin this:

The Dictator will now be what EB names it

Primvs Inter Pares

So hell be more of a "Figure head" or a "grandfather" some one the senators can look to.

and then the Imperii Heres Electus will be the person who is next in-line for the Primvs Pares. So therefore, no one is really Heir to the throne or dictator, they are just notable men. Also, the Heres can be changed depending on how the Curia sees fit to be the next Primvs Pares so it is never a definite thing.
