darn it. what a busy day; didn't have time to take the save just now in the afternoon and can't now because I have to wake up in less than 6 hours from now. Fortunately, the next week and the week after that would be spent slacking (mostly), so I won't have another busy day until sometime in May (probably).
and I'll probably be back home on time tomorrow to take the save on the current turn.

    Meh

I've looked at the rights of a tribune plebis. Should be changed imo.
Tribunes of the plebs were, especially in the later republic (200bc) onwards the lawmakers of the republic. The senate held the purse strings, but the tribunes made the laws. Of course the senate could advise which laws they would like to see, but they did not make the laws. As tribunes of the plebs was an office that granted acces to the senate, AND that it was THE office for any plebeian to make enough name for himself to be remembered at any praetor election, this was a rather important office for plebeians.

Therefore it should become more powerful. More law proposing should be made possible, aswel as more vetoing.
Especially in the last 2 centuries BC, where Tribunes of the plebs were quite powerful when in office (reason why anyone with objectives always bought himself a pair or two tribunes :))

    Should therefor become more powerful.
Maybe we should make it a re-electable office for all players below a certain rank (praetor or so), so we can have 2 or 3 lower ranked players to get themselves elected, AND keep eachother in check with the veto. That way factions in the senate can duel it out with their loyal tirbunes when it comes to lawmaking, as it was in real rome :)

May sound stupid that I bring this up now that i am tribune of the plebs, but i haven't taken a look at the FAQ that good before.

Also, any law that is passed, should get a roman name as was the habit back then, containing the last name of the one proposing it (gens part of the name - 2nd part)

Too be honest this is a game and taking law making powers away from higher ranks would ruin the fun and I can see whilst you guys are keeping to general them this is obviously not supposed to be completely historic.

I'm not saying higher ranked players cannot propose any laws.
On the contrary, Consuls & praetors also had the power to propose laws.

The point is that only people with a current OFFICE, should be able to make laws. Not just any senator with a high rank :) They can motion for a law to be made, but when it comes to actually voting the law at the congressional meeting, it should come from someone in office (thus removing the 'seconding' rule)

This can be reached by making a distinction between ranks and offices :)
Let's say we make the following offices electable:
    consuls (alrdy voteable)
    Praetors (new)
    Tribuni plebis (alrdy voteable)
The amount of offices for the last 2 that can be available should be based on players currently active.

This results in only the above offices being able to propose laws.

The other current ranks do still matter of course, in the way that your rank determines how heavy your vote counts when it comes to elections.

The idea to reach here is that we have: senators in office making laws <=> senators leading armies/provinces only voting.

But I still think being able to have all that power whilst still effectively being in the lowest rank is a bit strange.

    well it's historical accurate :)

plus the senate has the access to money.

And with more tribunes of plebs chosen, nobody can run rampage :)

I'm guessing a lot of things in this RP are very unhistorical.
