Legio II is to be discharged by order of the GM because they have served 10 years.
Which I take as a discharge of the whole legion.
If this isn't what navarro meant, he will inform us soon enough.

Besides we're not disbanding the legion.. We're just disbandign all it's current units to replace them with raw recruits.

That rule you quote I think, is that no legion may be erased from existense without an edict. Which is not what I am proposing here..

I presume you meant to post this here instead of the Curia, now let me quote the gamemaster.

Legio II Latium: Orders are to capture the city of Ambrakia, wait to establish a garrison there, and return home (OOC: Any Italia province.) for an order of leave. After which, a change of command will be proclaimed.

"order of leave" does not necessarily mean "discharge". damn. I have an urgent need to swear from arguing with you on the interpretations of the rules. bah!

Like I said, let's just have Navarro clarify his intentions :)

Like TCV said: I'd like to disband legions from time to time to prevent too experienced armies.
(note: by disbanding I mean that all units must be disbanded and replaced by raw recruits, NOT the abolishing of the legion permanently)

Reasons:
1) gameplay: too experienced armies widen the gap between players and AI. AI is already stupid enough, let's not fight them with endless stacks of double silver chevrons
2) realism: soldiers age and cannot find their entire life. Besides, they must return to their farms and breed sons for the armies of the enxt generation.
3) historical accuracy: Rome didn't have actual standing armies until Augustus. Which is why I tried limiting creation of legions by tying them to the need of each province.
4) another gameplay reason: In the later game, it will be a nice drain on our treasury (we'll be rich as croesus anyway) and offers some nice logistical problems. It also slows expansion by a slight bit once in a while :)

navarro.. How many turns to next session?

Maybe we shouldn't elect a commander for the Legio V, as with the new ranks kicking in soon, the poor guy will loose his command pretty soon anyway..

And about legio II, are they just on vacation, or do you wish to discharge them?

Well, I can lead them back to Epeiros. It doesn't make sense to disband legions without being able to replace them immediately, when we're at war with several factions. Just call me back to italy when you know exactly what to do.
