This is a hard one, because IRL Hiero supported Rome. If I/Appius had been the one to "force" the alliance, I would have RPed it as Hiero unwittingly insulting me, leading me to besiege the town and lie to the Senate by claiming that he had allied with Carthage.

if you guys look at like that why dont you just auto_win and say they DID accept the alliance apart from a few rabble rousers to account fro the light loss, id OKAY that.

That's what I wanted to do...but it would be better to defeat their army in combat first, as if he had allied with Carthage, then in defeat allied with Rome.

Oh, and give them a navy asap, and roleplay it as the Romans now command the Syracusian fleet. That's what I always do.

Oh and Navarro: be as Scottish as you feel like! I'm part-Scottish and was in the musical Brigadoon back in high school which was filled with all sorts of cliches and "Hollywood-ized" so no, I don't mind

haha ya idk i love the history man. The whole Gaelic, everything. The Scots have such mysterious history a lot of it made from legend and other history, we dont get that kinda fun and heritage in the U.S. Our history is pretty much plain and simple.
