Welcome to the Org, Stinger123! Sorry to hear you lost one of your MTW disks (), but we're certainly pleased to have you with us.

Thanks for the warm welcome :)
I'll have to start saving up money to buy MTW again after I blew all of it on a X360 game.
BTW, is Rome: Total War any good? I have heard mixed things about it.

The visuals aren't as cartoonish as those in M2TW and the voice acting isn't a problem as you can just mute it. Then once the flashy arrow markers are turned off, the minimal UI is enabled and all factions are modded playable it's not quite so insulting to one's intelligence. I agree though that is has nothing on the former two titles and the AI and path-finding is abysmal in post MTW1 TW games as a whole.
ok, MTW1 it is :)

Rome doesn't look too bad too me....
Anyways, I recently managed to convince a friend to lend me his copy of MTW (yay)

Rome's visuals were good for its era (imo). Looking back now that we are in the age of "next-gen" technology Rome can look a little too cartoony and too bright than it needs to be. Having said that though I enjoyed Rome, but I didn't play it as long as I played STW/MTW.
If you've never played it try to find some trailers or videos of gameplay online to see if it's something you'd like. Or browse the Colosseum, our dedicated Rome board.

Well if I still had the game, I might've given EB a go. (Goodness knows it's received a lot of praise!) However, I got rid of my copy of Rome a long time ago (only several months after I got it, in fact), and I can't really justify picking up another copy. I have neither the money nor (especially) the time to spare on new games right now -- indeed, I barely have time to play MTW these days.
Did you get the full game (MTW + Viking Invasion)?

indeedly, gold edition, im currently with the danes, i find expand is a much slower and harder process, i enjoy the intelligent AI too, the campaign more or less equals out the IMO slightly poorer battles, i played it 11 hours straight away, now im shattered lol (with food inbetween though)
Also EB was far to tight for money IMO, the aedui gaul started -3000 in debt there army was small, i was forced to change the EDB manually and add taxable income to my core buildings just to make enough money, not to mention the law, and it ran slow, a big mod, like SS is for medieval 2, but i soon got bored of it, i appriacte it is epic, but i didnt like the cavarlys get bet by missile units, the whole game feels impossible, and it takes heaps of memory on my computer up
I honestly have not heard much about the Viking Invasion expansion, how is it?

Now that sounds familiar. Ah, the joys of the all-day gaming session....
Glad you're enjoying it!
Det er veldig god! [Roughly translated: "It's very good!"]
Seriously, though, you should get it, as it's one of the best expansion packs I've ever seen.
While VI adds a host of new features and tweaks to MTW, the two biggies are (of course) the Viking campaign -- which is a blast just by itself -- and the pre-battle screen (in which you can set up in what order you wish your reinforcements to arrive). The expansion is worth getting just for these two things alone.
In addition, Viking Invasion adds a number of new units. Also, it makes three of the factions in the main campaign (Aragon, Hungary, and Sicily) playable, thus extending gameplay even further.
Viking Invasion is also worth getting because it allows you to install and try out all the mods available to MTW. (There's currently only two full mods that have a version compatible with the vanilla game, MedMod and Redux, and even their "main" versions are compatible with VI only.) Whether you're talking about Samurai Warlords, BKB, Pocket Mod, Hellenic TW, XL, etc., there's a host of excellent mods available to those who have the Viking Invasion expansion.
Honestly, I can't recommend VI enough. It's a must-have for anyone who plays MTW.
