Papal states accepts Alliance of Papal States with Antioch.
Offer of Alliance of France with Antioch and Alliance of France and Wales
.
My kingdom for a
.
I'd limit the alliances to one per faction. Otherwise we'll have an alliance of ten, taking ten full points from an unallied faction.
BLARGH!
True....we will need to break the alliance's eventually anyway.....
Wales accepts Alliance with France
I proposed that rule to avoid the creation of points, which will innevitably lead to a gigantic increase in the length of the game. Now as there are no rules about it, I could quickly "ask" to ally Portugal as every faction minus one (Say France), have glyphz accept it as Portugal and attack France and destroy France in three posts. I'm only trying to have a fair game, that's why I didn't ask Scotland for a alliance (As I was planning to do before the Mayans alliance proposal came) it's advantegous enough to take two points from an unallied faction, how much more would it be three points.
And imagining I attack a three faction alliance with a two faction alliance, how are the points going to be divided? 1.5? Having a limit on faction alliances of one evens up the game while allowing for alliances to continue existing (Not a rule I created). I don't mind allowing unlimited alliances, but what I would do would be immediatly propose alliance to Portugal with all factions except one, which would innevitably be attacked and destroyed. But that doesn't make for a fair or fun game.
BLARGH!
The principality accepts the offer of alliance from France.
now were getting into WWI style alliances

Since I noticed alliances were a bit of a flawed system, I'm trying to ammend that. My rules can really be ignored. YLC has the final say on this. It's his game (I think). Just trying to help.
EDIT: Anyways, new day, new enemy.

BLARGH!
I am sorry for the new mechanic introduced into the game, I even had other mechanics I was going to include (theaters of combat for instance) but I really wanted to see how alliances worked first. I think I should have run a test game first
But in all honesty, Alliances were only ever pictured as between two factions and only two factions, think of what would happen if we had 4 factions. X is allied to Y, Y is allied to Z, Z is allied to W, and W is allied to X. If X subtracts from A, then X, Y, and W go up. And since Z went up, W goes up, which means X and Y go up, which means Z goes up, which means X goes up, and on and on - creating a infinite point loop.
In short, the current format of the Alliance system can't handle more then one partner with one more partner. Think of it as marriage. This does not exclude several Alliances working together or a loner working with an Alliance.
As such, only Frances first applicable alliance counts. So...
Current Alliances
HRE/Norway - Sigurd and YLC
Mayans/Portugal - Ares and Glyphz
Papal States/Antioch - Yoyoma and Tiberius
