    Default money cap in EB?

    hi all,
i am new to EB and loving it, however i am wondering if there is a money cap in EB similar to the one in vanilla RTW. i mean the limit (in RTW it was 20k) where your family members will begin to get lots of bad traits such as gambling etc.
    thx for the help.

No bad traits / 50k (very little chance) / 100k (little chance)

But not as much chance as Vanilla RTW.

They can though depending on their personality. Such as if they are in a big city with a certain trait and they get bored and you don't do anything with them then they will get get bad traits.

On a side note, is there a maximum money value after which it will roll over negative?

2147483648 is the roll over point. So no need to worry about that in normal gameplay.

    Is that hardcoded?

The game uses a 32 bit signed integer to store faction money values, and that is the max value that can be represented, so yes it is.

I wouldn't say "no need to worry about that in normal game play."

In my last Epirote campaign (which I won in 142 BC) I was expanding eastward and razed/abandoned every single Ptolie city on the Nile, Palestine, and Syria to keep them in check. After doing this 2-3 times each while I was building up all of my new cities to max level in Anatolia I was taking in 40k-50k each season on average w/ pillaging and taxes. Because I only build one building at a time per settlement, my bank account was at 750 million mnai just before I accepted victory.

If I had continued this to fully develop each city as I took them one at a time, and extended my razing/pillaging into AS ahead of the cities that I took from them and kept, I would have hit that cash limit before 14 AD.

So, is it unlikely that you will hit that limit - absolutely. Is it something that's possible - absolutely.

Its too bad you don't have a save there and can't actually roll over... or can you? :-D

No, unfortunately, I don't have a save (it was 1.1). Perhaps I'll do that with my Kart-hadast campaign that I'm half-way through. If I do, I'll post the screen shot.

Well there's no need for me to worry anyway, since I seem to always have only just enough to get by

Also, if you were to roll over, would you be able to lose money fast enough to make yourself rich again? The only realistic way to do it would be to let everything rebel, since farms and mines can't be destroyed, and tax income would cripple you. Such is the world of living on the edge of integers.

    What... 750000000?!? are u sure?

I only had 800000.... in the bank account of my Healthy M/M romani campaign.... i only got 400000 in maximum peace condition in a very healthy empire... the upkeep and unit costs in EB is very high compared to most Mods...

Doing the math of mnai/turn compared to number of turns that I completed the game in, you're probably right that I'm off by a 2 zeros. Hmm, that kind of takes the thunder out of my statement!

Sorry, in my defense it all looks similar!

It's easy to get rid of any excess treasury, just recruit a bunch of elites and their upkeep will keep you nice and poor.

What is the point of saving the money? Even with biggest empire I would never hit 300 000 limit. Actually playing as romanii on VH/VH in 200 BC I already get 320 000 per turn from my 100 cities, then there are around 260 000 army upkeep expenses per turn, rest 60 000 I use for expansion of towns. So at the end of every turn I usually have 1000 or less.
In this game money (main source of your power) win the war :) So it is pretty bad to keep them in treasury - hurts the whole business - war :)
