Wouldn't it make sense that in the event of a lower ranked general defeating a much higher ranked gen., lets say 1vs5, that the rank increase for the victorious lower ranked gen. should be more than 1. Maybe have it go up to 3 not 2. Just a thought.

But then other generals that beat an equal, but tough opponent would feel like they have been passed over. This could poison the morale of the army.

I'm just saying if you beat a champion you become a champion.
It also adds a strategic element as well in that you may not want to commit an accomplished general to a hopeless battle denying the opposing general any undo acclaim.
