    Question Battlefield 1942 MP

    Hey all,

I found my old copy of BF:1942. Is there still a base of MP players who play it online?

Yes, suprsingly there is a lot of players who still play. You're going to have to patch it up to the lastest version (1.6.1 I think, not sure) and you'll find around 200 servers with about 20 full. I'll see you on the battlefields of berlin!

Hey..yes, the online community is still quite strong. :)

The Forgotten Hope mod is beastly in size but epic in gameplay - it's hard at first but once you get it down it's incredibly fun and rewarding. Sometimes your team even works together - just the other day four of us randoms managed to cooperate for a good 40 minutes to keep a base clear. The playerbase is a lot more mature, too.

Even regular MP is fun though. I'm an admin on 3FL BF1942, which probably isn't he best for you (since it's based in Sydney), but there are still many Euro/US servers.

    Have fun! :)

This thread has awakened a long dormant desire... I must re-install BF1942 and give it a go!

I loved BF2 but it lacked the 'purity' and simplicity of BF1942. And the last time I played BF2 I was disturbed at the alarming number of large cap BF2 servers that sported 'no-vehicles' rules. Blasphemy! Cmon now, wasn't it the joy of being able to drive a tank or fly a plane one of the main attractions of the BF series?!?
