Gah! Sorry I've taken so long to follow up on this, folks.
All right. The choices have been narrowed down to four. Pick your favorite! (Poll is open for 10 days, btw.)
The Assembly/The General Assembly/The National Assembly
The Chancellory/Imperial Chancellory
Parliament/Parliament Square/Imperial Parliament/Parliamentary Council/House of Parliament
The Redoubt

How odd! I was considering asking something about this just a few hours earlier
I vote for the parliament option. To me it seems to be the name that best fits the time period.

Parliament sound much too British!
After all they are just one faction.
Redoubt sounds much too Infantry.
There are other combat arms and the navy, after all.
The others mean approximately the same as parliament but not so faction specific though they don’t do much to inspire me…
It just goes to show how uninspired Democracy can be in Naming
Nothing he has a Georgian feel to it, where as at least the other games touched that a little bit in their era.
I know these got the top votes, with Parliament gaining the most, but still…
It was an era of gin shops, coffee houses, and lodge meetings at the local pub. That is where acquaintances were made, decisions taken, and policy set.
We would have been better served with a famous pub name or The Royal Society than with these choices.
I’ll get off my soap box now, put gin in my coffee, and head off for a lodge meeting at the Elephant & Castle now, and leave this naming business to those with less imagination.

Although I'd like to say parliament, all the other singleplayer forums seem to be military-centered. Therefore, 'The Redoubt' seems a good choice for the forum name.
Fisherking does make a valid point.
My problem with Redoubt is that it isn't particularly Era or location specific. It's just a generic military term, which can apply to virtually any period of history. In short, it has little to do with the theme of the Age of Empires.
At least parliament, while not militaristic, fits the bill of applying to the era much better.
To be honest some of Fisherking's suggestions sound much better, a shame that they didn't get the votes.
Also we don't have to pick a military name just because the others are! Buck the trend people! Be different!
Also diplomacy should be much more prominent in Empires, as should the system of government, so Parliament is a good way of showing that.
Also we could all pretend to be MP's (that's Members of Parliament, for anyone who isn't familiar with British government).

You took far too long, Martok. I will never forgive you.
Wow, the Redoubt almost caught up. Luckily, through clever use of coercion, bribery, and blackmail, I've managed to stop it from winning in the poll.
Well Empires need parliments.
So an Imperial Parliment is the call.

No! Don’t do that!
Isn’t one bad name enough!
Give them the Lodge, or the Parade Ground, or the Offices’ Mess, or something but not that!!!
