Thread: Gaeroas and smithies

    Default Gaeroas and smithies

    I've noticed that the weapons of Gaeroas don't benefit from a blacksmith, unlike the weapons of other spear/javelin units. Is this intentional? Feature or bug?

    An oversight - the "weapon type" in their EDU entry wasn't converted from "missile" to "simple" back when everybody's precursors got that treatment. Must've missed it.

    Good catch, thanks. Here's what the entry *should* look like:
    Code:
    ;61
    type             celtic infantry gaeroas
    dictionary       celtic_infantry_gaeroas      ; Gaeroas
    category         infantry
    class            spearmen
    voice_type       General_1
    soldier          celtic_infantry_gaeroas_balroae, 50, 0, 1.1
    officer          ebofficer_celtic_officer
    officer          ebofficer_celtic_standardbearer
    mount_effect     elephant -3
    attributes       sea_faring, hide_improved_forest, hardy
    formation        1, 1.4, 2, 2.8, 5, square
    stat_health      1, 1
    stat_pri         5, 6, javelin, 45, 3, thrown, simple, piercing, spear, 10 , 1
    stat_pri_attr    prec, thrown
    ...

    export_descr_unit, yes. Recall that if you launch the game through the trivialscript you need to modify the files in the backup folders.

    Thank you, Watchman.

    @Ziegenpeter: go to \Rome - Total War\EB\sp game edu backup, open export_descr_unit.txt with Crimson Editor (or with a similar editor), and modify the entry for Gaeroas just like Watchman demonstrated.

    @Watchman

    There's 4 more:
    dorkin alupin (elite african infantry)
    anatin libin kbedim (reformed libian spearman)
    dorkei hatqapa iberin (iberian assault infantry)
    dorkin liby-ponnim kbedim (lib-phoenician heavy infantry)
    unit EDU numbers ;89 ;93 ;95 ;187

    they're not upgrading swords/spears

    they have siege instead of simple (see Watchman post)

    I think a thread must be opened them a small fix (@Bovi?)

    Thanx for the info

    No, that's intentional. It's a "reform" thingy that uses some kind of arcane building-based modifier to the "siege" weapon type to control when those units become available (there should be a few of those out East too, IIRC). Since there duly is no way to make those units benefit from the blacksmiths, they've just had the +1 bonus already factored into their stats on the assumption that by the time the reform comes up their recruitement areas will have blacksmiths already anyway. And, well, because that was the only way to not lose them an attack point in the long run.

    Even if it were a bug, there would be no fix for this. It is not gamebreaking in the slightest. It would be part of the next bugfix release, whenever that might be.
