    Welcome wukie2001,

    Trade:

A line of ships, with at least one friendly ship in every sea zone in between, from a friendly port to a neutral or allied port.

    Conditions are that:

    1) At least one type of trade goods, must exist in your province

    2) A port and a trader, which relies on trade goods in order to be built, must exist in your province

    3) The province you are trading with must have a port - it does not have to have a trader

    4) The province you are trading with won't accept a certain type of trade goods if it already has the goods you are supplying

    5) Enemy ships in any of the sea zones in the route between your port and the port you are trading with cause a blockade: No trade occurs until the blockade is removed.

When these conditions are met with and your traders are in place, you should start seeing the trade income coming in.

Ports also have a small import tax for other factions' provinces trading with them.

Traders can be upgraded per castle level to boost trade income. It is best to first do this in those provinces that are already turning in a substantial trade income as the outlay for the trader upgrades is quite steep.

Note that trade in landlocked provinces is simply trade within the province itself. There is no land trade with neighbours whether friendly, allied or neutral. All provinces with trade goods and a trader produce the local trade income, the landlocked provinces produce only this and because of this, it is not really worth building traders in these provinces until later in a campaign, when florins become less of a problem.

    Transportation:

A line of ships, with at least one friendly ship in every sea zone in between, from a friendly port to a neutral, allied or enemy province (the destination does not need to have a port).

    Conditions are that:

    1) A port must exist in your province for units to embark

    2) Enemy ships in any of the sea zones in the route between your port and the destination province cause a blockade: No movement of army stacks until the blockade is removed.

    3) Allied or Neutral ships belonging to the owner of a province you are trying to invade by sea will also cause a blockade, effectively stopping you from taking them by surprise. You will have to declare war by sinking their ships to clear a path first.

With these conditions met you should be able to simply pick up an army stack as usual and then drop it onto the target province in exactly the same way that you would move an army stack between provinces on land.

Bear in mind that if your army stack invade an island and on taking the castle there the port is auto pillaged (destroyed automatically) the army will be stranded there until a port can be built.

Hold the "v" key to show friendly (green), neutral (amber) and hostile (red) waters.

Not all trade goods are of the same exporting value - typically, exotic and luxury commodities like silk and spices can make a real profit whereas other more raw commdities like wood and hides make less.

    Coastal provinces that have more than one expensive commodities can make you very rich - the most important generally are;

    Constantinople,Khazar,Venice,Tripoli,Antioch,Portugal,Egypt,Flanders,
    Sweden,Denmark,Pomerania,Cordoba,Naples,Sicily,Northumbria.

Be aware however that unlike agricultural income trade income needs peace to be gotten - if at war with faction that have significant fleets roaming around the seas, your network will be interrupted and the trade income will not be gotten. If at war with most/all factions, even if you rule the seas alone - you still dont get any income as you can trade with neutrals and allies.

    have fun
