actually, I beat Aper before he beat you. so there.India was never really a political entity before modern times. It was more like what we would term Europe today ie a group of peoples who share a cultural heritage but are divided among different countries and languages.
China fits the statement a bit better but was still ruled by foreigners or divided among different empires at many points in history eg mogols, warring states peroid.
