The ideas are not really mine they are generally espoused as the cause of the fall of the Roman Republic, Brunt is probably the one to put it most clearly in his Social Conflicts. I just summed them up briefly- it is more complicated and detailed than that and I just did a 15-page assignment for a friend in that exact field ;-) It is in Danish though, so not much good for you lot.
