From about ages 11-15 "sex" was some mystical thing and something very very intimate. It was so powerful something that had so much pull. Heck any girl I kissed around those ages was a candidate for marriage and a life of togetherness. Then my friend, a good Irish boy lost his homecoming sophomore year.

It all changed then. It now seemed something attainable It became a race to see who could lose there's and how many proverbial notches on the belt you could get. My church and parents gave me little information and I was to headstrong to ask (go figure) I was not only a sex God but a very responsible one at that. Pregnancy would never happen and neither would STDs.

Of course the first time It actually happened I was drunk scared and stupid. I couldn't figure out how to work the intricacies of a rubber and decided to gamble. I got lucky but that night is etched into my brian forever. I'll forever remember the smell of CoCo Rum and vinalla perfume.

As for the girl, I barley talked to her before and after it happened I wanted to talk to her yet all she said was "we had a little fun" (Im shortening it but that was her main thesis) On the outside I played it all cool but on the inside I was nervous and kind of heartbroken. Last I heard she was into a plethora of drugs ( I know how to pick'em)

So my virginity wasn't worth much but honestly I kind of wish I would've till I had someone I cared about and then proceeded. I'm not saying marriage (as there were a couple more after her) but you know something special

Exactly nothing. I hate the entire drama surrounding "losing virginity". It just a first time you have sex. You don't have to wait for the special person, you don't become a man/woman after that, it isn't a rite of passage, you don't become cooler or more mature.

Waiting for the special person is a bit silly to me. Let's say you do love that person and do it with her/him the first time, what then? Is it then okay to have sex people you don't feel so strongly about? Why is that different from having sex with girls you're not in love with first and then with the one you are?

To each his own I guess... IMO, it's not about the person you had sex with first, it's about the person you'll have sex with last...

As you said, losing it as early as possible became a "cool" factor. Not only that, but if you take to long to do it, you'll be seen as an idiot and mocked by your friends.

So yeah, we rush it, even if it leads to awkwards situations, involving alcohol or drugs, and a girl you met 3 hours earlier.

I too wish I could have done it with someone I really cared about for the first time, but well, not only I am a bit crazy on the emotional side (thus having a hard time finding girl I care about), but there's also a physical need that you can't deny and restrain forever.
Heck if I could, I would only do it with someone I love, but that mean I wouldn't have a lot of sex ;-(

Maybe its just because us Iowans are so dang mellow about most stuff, but for me, virginity isn't a big thing. Sure, I'll be nervous when it happens, but it'll happen. Women aren't "to be claimed". I'm not up for one night stands or anything of the sort. When it does happen, it'll be with a gal I genuinely like and care about.

And that is why I am still a virgin, well, that and a few other reasons, like not having found a girl who I actually want to have, and the ones I found where it could have happened it never could happen for other reasons.
But I'm fine, I don't generally feel like I'm missing out and I cannot really miss it if I never had it before like some people who had it and now have had a "dry period" for some years/months, which actually seems to happen. I'm sure there were some girls who wanted to do it with me but I never wanted with them because I'm sure I don't want to date a girl just for the sake of dating a girl, either I really want her or I don't, lying to her and myself about that would just make me miserable, sex or not.

i dunno. it can be very special. i lost mine (just now thought about saying finally but really i'm only 18 so what does that say about our culture.) any way. it was me and my girlfriend, she is a year (or two) younger than me, we were both sober and careful, used protection. and it was great.

but the weird thing was that when we were done and i was out with friends nothing changed. I dunno if part of me expected them all to stare at me then suddenly declare "wait a second, you had sex didn't you!?". nor did any of them say "hey, you know your a lot cooler today than you were last week, what happened?"
