Exactly nothing. I hate the entire drama surrounding "losing virginity". It just a first time you have sex. You don't have to wait for the special person, you don't become a man/woman after that, it isn't a rite of passage, you don't become cooler or more mature.

Waiting for the special person is a bit silly to me. Let's say you do love that person and do it with her/him the first time, what then? Is it then okay to have sex people you don't feel so strongly about? Why is that different from having sex with girls you're not in love with first and then with the one you are?

To each his own I guess... IMO, it's not about the person you had sex with first, it's about the person you'll have sex with last...

As you said, losing it as early as possible became a "cool" factor. Not only that, but if you take to long to do it, you'll be seen as an idiot and mocked by your friends.

So yeah, we rush it, even if it leads to awkwards situations, involving alcohol or drugs, and a girl you met 3 hours earlier.

I too wish I could have done it with someone I really cared about for the first time, but well, not only I am a bit crazy on the emotional side (thus having a hard time finding girl I care about), but there's also a physical need that you can't deny and restrain forever.
Heck if I could, I would only do it with someone I love, but that mean I wouldn't have a lot of sex ;-(

Maybe its just because us Iowans are so dang mellow about most stuff, but for me, virginity isn't a big thing. Sure, I'll be nervous when it happens, but it'll happen. Women aren't "to be claimed". I'm not up for one night stands or anything of the sort. When it does happen, it'll be with a gal I genuinely like and care about.

And that is why I am still a virgin, well, that and a few other reasons, like not having found a girl who I actually want to have, and the ones I found where it could have happened it never could happen for other reasons.
But I'm fine, I don't generally feel like I'm missing out and I cannot really miss it if I never had it before like some people who had it and now have had a "dry period" for some years/months, which actually seems to happen. I'm sure there were some girls who wanted to do it with me but I never wanted with them because I'm sure I don't want to date a girl just for the sake of dating a girl, either I really want her or I don't, lying to her and myself about that would just make me miserable, sex or not.

Now to the original question, I agree with HoreTore, although on ebay that may be different.
