Well I would also advise you try another faction maybe Baktria but you could also try another faction you choose (ergo a faction you like to play) or listen to the suggestion of the others.
Besides that... if you do I would advise you to play it a bit ahead (like maybe 50 years ingame) and wright down your AAR to test if nothing goes wrong - like CTD or something else. It might be a stupid suggestion (especially from someone who hasn't made anything like an AAR before) but it could be useful..
