Alright I'm going to change this thread around. Instead of a game I'd like to see, I'm going to open up the discussion to game aspects we'd all like to see.

You should dream less and play Empire Earth more.![]()
Thanks for responding. I've played many real-time and turn-based strategy games, from the Empire Earth series to the Civilization series.
What I'm looking for with this game is the breadth of Spore, the character development of the Sims, the strategy of EU:3 and R:TW, with the depth and detail of Europa Barbarorum.
A game where you can actually fight in your battles as well as command them? Mount and Blade did a good job at that, but it's a shame their campaign map was quite limited. I'm thinking of an RPG/Strategy game where you have a family tree descending from your first character, all of whom have the same traits as the first. Whether they be kings, senators, or commoners who simply fall in with the flow of time matters not, as each one has the possibility of...
*sigh* Thanks, Broteas. Thanks a lot. Now I'll never stop dreaming. Maybe they'll have this by the time I'm a senior, in which case I'll have a couple free decades of golden years to play this miracle-game? I can wish...
EDIT: You could even pick the next family member you want to control after the death of your current one. Maybe you could pick the eldest son, or maybe the youngest son and vie for dominance over your family in a sort of blood feud or sibling rivalry... ARGH!!!

Methuselah you changed my mind about this thread. I decided, instead of my own game, to open it up for ideas we'd all like to see in a game. I guess. I burned my mind out thinking about all of this, so I'm going to go take a nap and post ideas later.
Like Methuselah pointed out, they should expand on the Mount and Blade idea........I mean the game has almost everything! Action, Sandbox, RPG, and the slightest bit of RTS.......they ought to flesh out the RTS bit some more.....maybe give a pause an command ability, so that one can have more control over the troops.....try to make formations actually worthwhile.....I mean the formations mod does a great job and looks great, but the formations still don't actually work like they should you know.......
And they can work on the map, make it bigger, throw in some more factions.........so that it really does feel epic........the already have a good kingdom management mod. No rpoblem with the quests being repetative, I mean as long as the maps is big enough, and anyhow it's a sandbox game isn't it....
So, Mount and Blade, if worked on, can become the ideal game........they simply MUST develop the idea more.
And I don't mind the graphics, they are pretty decent, and the gameplay as it is more than makes up for everything.
The horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.
Whatever it is, just make it realistic.
Rest in Peace TosaInu, the Org will be your legacy

And also some RPG to throw in so that your Leader/General gain experience and actually have a certain roadmap of abilities to upgrade. Hope i can get that correctly...![]()

To me, the mother of all games has to be an online massive multiplayer game.
I want a medieval-theme realm versus realm MMORPG, set in a HUGE world that is wide-open, so much so that swaths of terrain are added by the developers according to what & where people (want to) explore. I want to be a hunter who stalks deer and bears, lives in a hut in a remote part of game world where practically no one ever ventures, and comes down from the mountains every now and then to trade, make friends and defend his homeland along with other archers, as part of a larger army, in huge freaking battles.
I am not going to get it. Future generations will.

We really need more space games like Freelancer and what not. Tis a shame that this genre has basically died off except for maybe the X3 series and some indie games.
I still play through Freespace 1 and 2 thinking about how greater the game could be with updated graphics

EXACTLY!!! Your own possibe paths are endless in itself, whether you choose to form a part of or lead armies/kingdoms, etc. For myself, I would love to lead bands of settlers into the Russian steppes or other, night-empty lands. Imagine that? A worldwide map during the middle ages. Oh, the glory!Originally Posted by Adrian II

Hmm, there would have to be a lot of people playing in order to do things like that. Of course WoW has like twelve million people playing, so it might not be so farfetched. And battles would have a lot of lag. Though in the future lag might not even exist anymore... People in the future are damn lucky.

I believe realistic server capacity for MMO's these days is around 1000 players max, although much depends on the system and client requirements. A low-end f2p MMO like Runescape has 1200 max, a more elaborate P2P the Battlefield series has 64 max.
What's the max server capacity for Wow actually? I never played the game. They seem to have huge issues because everyone wants to play on specific worlds and in specific parts of the sandbox as well, which leads to clogging and lag and severely deminished gameplay.
Anyhoo, that's today. I was asked to dream. So I dream of mega-servers offering persistent worlds with different realms in which members can chose their adherence in accordance with the political system they prefer. You want to be the subject of a clan-based kingship? A republic with elected leaders? A democracy with a huge town hall?
The armies would be those of the realm you live in and 'belong' to. Mind you, your realm can be conquered by a neighbouring realm and you will be subject to the new overlords. Will you keep to yourself, withdraw into the mountains and resist, or join the new powers-that-be and make a career in their ranks? You have friends, too - is there going to be a split in your ranks because of the new political situation? If you want to resist the new rulers, how do you gather an army and recapture the capital? Do you elect new leaders in exile? What weapons do you need to gather (and train with) to stand a chance? How do you get enough food to feed your companions until the time is there?
Hmm, fascinating..

It is. It is facinating. I want to donate to the sperm bank, freeze myself, and leave a letter for my to-be-grandson to unfreeze me when he's my age.![]()
I want this game to actually work.
As long as I have Infinity and plenty of Hawkwind to rock out to whilst plying the interstellar seas, I'll be happy.
That's beautiful. I wish they didn't seperate the skies into 3 main governments, though, but it's still beautiful.
I hope they don't use a "campaign map" when travelling vast distances.

I wish there was a true survival game, sort of like stranded 2 but more serious and having more environments then some tropical island, make it quite hardcore and realistic too.
