    Default A Sad Day

IHOP has unlimited pancake refills. I am broke. This is causing a deep spiraling depression. Help me.
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

    There's no IHOP around here.

That actually made me laugh out loud. I feel your pain, Strike, but at the same time thanks for making my day better.

Although, I have to say, the "spicy" chicken they serve in the Texas ones, aren't very spicy from my experience. And when I asked for some hot sauce, instead of Tabasco, Crystal, or Louisiana, they gave me this weak stuff called "Texas Jack." I though it tasted like syrup.

Go there. Eat all you can. When the bill comes, smile and tell 'em you wanna cash in your "senior discount" ahead of time - 2 years worth, today. And that you'll sign a note promising not to use your discount until age 53 (ca. 2033?).

Failing that, offer to scrub out their grease trap, as a trade. (And after they call the cops, but before John Law arrives, start scrubbing, so the cops see that you're working it off). <---- I actually did that in a Toronto restaurant once, during some hard times. Worked.

Okay, seriously, they will let you wash dishes for your dinner. I used to work at one in college. I even used to wash dishes at one for a few months. It's not fun, but I could do an hour for a mountain of pancakes and some sweet tea.

Fortunately for me I'm not broke so it's not a choice I have to make.

I'll wait. No sense in washing dishes when in 3 days I can eat them.

That stuff Lemur posted a picture of is the American version of pancakes, no?
IHOP means international and probably have German and Swedish style pancakes. (I cringe that they are defined as Swedish).

I can see why you want to go...

Personally I like the German style... which incidenly is our home made stuff. thin crepes with butter and casted sugar, rolled up.

Mmmmmmmmm ... Not lunch soon? Nope another hour and a half.

Ah, pancakes. It has been a while since I had pancakes.

I like them with brown sugar, but on occasions, I can enjoy a pancake served with some ice cream too.

But to be honest, I prefer waffles over pancakes, especially Liège waffles.

    Oh well, not today probably.

I feel your pain, brother. I went out to eat and the infidels in my bank had decided to act like I had no money in my account so they denied my card and thus I had to use my parent's credit card.

    It was embarrassing.

When I want pancakes, I go to Denny's, they give you hash browns, two eggs, two pieces of sausage and two pieces of heavenly bacon as well.

The best-tasting (note not best) pancakes I ever had were served with two fried eggs, bacon and 4-5 cups of coffee and were devoured the day we returned from my 5 day pre-orientation hiking trip and were the only food that I had not cooked myself, for myself and carried around since I went on the trip. They were delicious and were brought to me by the fine people at Cracker Barrel even though I hadn't washed in several days.

Now for the best pancakes get a good cook to make them for you or make them yourself. Stuff at restaurants usually isn't quite as good, though a diner in my hometown serves really good ones.
