Interesting developments. There are several reasons, some already listed, that I believe Khaan is telling the truth.

But let me for a moment suppose he is mafia.

For Khaan to be mafia he would have to know that he would be under close scrutiny by everyone during the day of his 'reveal' and by any genuine detective the following night. Hoping that he would perhaps be quarantined, as has been suggested, might be a calculated risk if he was able to kill anywhere on the ship no matter his own location, but as he would not be able to know whether or not the detective's ability was location specific, Khann would be taking a huge risk in doing so. However there is still the fact that any genuine detective would have to prove themselves to the rest of us by revealing as well. And at that point it would be Khaan's word against theirs.

Has anybody witnessed this type of scenario in a mafia game before?

Anyway - despite the fact that 777Ares777's denial of Khaans' accusation actually has for the most part a genuine feel about it to me, his offered reveal above is the main thing that makes me think he is guilty.
The character names in the write-ups so far have either included quite specific name types. Most Crew of the JCNC seem to have quite Russian sounding names, and the two named marines (assuming ‘John’ shlinn was indeed a marine, and ‘crazy’ Iris White) have a more random-sounding name which also includes their forum name.
I am in no way 100% sure that 777Ares777 is mafia, but his proposed name above ‘Marcus Adams’ does not fit with the established pattern so far and makes me inclined to believe Khaans’ accusation.

I thought it would be easily verifiable = therefore useful. I don't have any objection to you and Khaan sharing a room btw, but only if you are both consenting adults and don't have any wings, tails or glowing stone-like skin

Thats my name... good point made about the names, this is the final nail in the coffin of Ares, i had a little doubt before but the name thing ends it imo.

What do you think about boudica's theory about ECD names?

Seems right on the money to me, no nickname in his marine name, less sure about this russian sounding name thing, Espen doesn't jump out as russian to me (something like ivan would be more clear) but i wouldn't know either way, is Espen russian related name ?

Maybe we could have marines come out and tell us thier names so we can get further clarification on this issue...

I was actually refering to the main JCNC Ravager crew names in the write ups, as having 'Russian sounding' names - rather than the ECD marine names. It was just the lack of any '777's' in Ares' post which made my decision for me.
