Can't attack Neutral faction all of a sudden

I've defeated Rome and taken over a few of the Brutii and Scipii cities, but all of a sudden the game won't let me attack them now, it gives me the "you don't have enough popular support".

I did mod the game and add 100 years to the original time frame, could this be the problem?

No, it's a hardcoded feature of the game, that you cannot attack your fellow romans until the roman civil war breaks out.

That's just it, the civil war already broke out and I was able to defeat the Senate and attack the other families, but now all of a sudden I can't.

Maybe if your popularity with the people falls below the limit (whatever that is) the 'forced neutral' mode kicks back in. Try conquering some regions, your popularity with the people will rise and then chekc if you can attack the other romans again. In any case, it's doubtful your problem is modding-related.

I tried that too. They can attack me, but I can't attack them, must be one of those rare glitches.

I know there is a bug where the civil war starts, but for some reason the player cannot attack the other Roman factions even though they can attack you. I have never heard of it kicking in in the middle of the civil war however. Usually it is that way from the very beginning. Sadly, there is no way to fix it.

This might be a rare case where the civil war worked fine to start with, allowing you to attack Rome and other Roman factions, and then the bug started in the middle of it all. If you have an old save from back when you could still attack other Romans, I suggest going to back to it and playing from there on.

I started over, no big deal, I love this game anyway.
