runnin eb w/ bi when having gold edition

Hi. There's this link on the FAQ to how to make EB work with BI. It says I must have BI 1.6 to work - is this the one, you get with the RTW Gold Edition? Can I do exactly as it says in that thread, even tho I have BI with Gold Edition and not purchased separately? sorry, if it's a dumb question, but better to ask now, than when my EB is down in flames
Also, and I actually couldnt see that answered anywhere, so more of a not-stupid question, is changing EB from being based on my RTW to being based on my BI save-game-combatible? or does it mean I should start over? :)

RTW Gold is RTW 1.5 and BI 1.6.

Switching to BI should be savegame compatible.
