Familia Aquilae Ascendtis

Mounted upon the wall of the residence of Cnaeus Cornelius Blasio is a parchment, scribbled in large letters as its title is the Familia Aquilae Ascendtis Charter:

I Familia Aquilae Ascendtis was established 497 Ab urbe condita by Manius Claudius Cicero Aquila, it is sponsored by Caius Aurelius Cotta Aquila. The house hails from the city of Taras in which Cnaeus Cornelius Blasio Aquila resides.

II The Familia Aquilae Ascendtis is established to increase the prestige of the Republic, through Military and Financial means, through adherence with our values.

III We believe in strength through unity; any member that is believed to be sowing discord or known to disagree with members of the house shall be ostracised by a majority vote of the house's members.

IV Members are requested to support each other in conflicts be they of words or of steel.

V All members are expected not to act in roguish manner, which refers to but is not limited to bribery, gambling and sacrilege (of course this applies only to your actions ingame and not your traits or what you do OOC). Members are expected to act honourably

VI The house is to be led by a Princeps, a Magistrate of Finance, or a Magistrate of War; in which this order shall be followed when choosing a succeeding leader.

VII All full members (Sodalis) of the house shall adopt the Cognomen "Aquila" after their Cognomen (e.g. "Manius Claudius Cicero" shall be known as "Manius Claudius Cicero Aquila"; by referring to themselves as so)

VIII upon ascending to the rank of any of the Magistrates, the Familia Princeps or Soladis; the member of the house must swear the oath of loyalty in any IC manner, preferrably via PM


Family Ranks

Familia Princeps (The Family Head)
-Will be titled "Princeps" when spoken to at all times.
-The Princeps job is to lead the family in all matters of business.
-The Princeps is the final "okay" on each issue at hand.
-He will remain the family head until death or the family views his leadership as improper and votes him out.

Magistrate of Finance
-Along with the Princeps, suggests or determines what each province the family governs will build. If he has no suggestions, as well as the Princeps, then the governor of said province can build what he chooses at his discretion.
-This is a lifelong title unless he is voted out.
-Is to be addressed as Grand Magistrate, or Grand <name>.

Magistrate of War
-The Magistrate of War, along with the Princeps, will determine the composition of each of our personal legions, as well as decide the commanding officer of said legion.
-This is a lifelong title unless he is voted out.
-Is to be addressed as Lord Magistrate, or Lord <name>.

Emereo Decerno
-A veteran member of the family. this rank is issued every 12 years by the Princeps to a member of the house.
-He has been recognised for his contributions or long service to the house
-To be addressed as Emereo.

Pro-Magistrate
-The Pro-Magistrate will remain in the families capital as governor for as long has he holds this title.
-His job, primarily, is to work hand-in-hand with the Princeps on all ideas for legislation to be proposed in councils, or for the family. This is, of course, after proper input from the rest of the family.
-Is to be addressed High Magistrate.
-This job is for a term of 12 years.

Sodalis
-Is now an official member of the family. He can better decide what way the family will sway through his debate; that is if he is savvy.
-Can now lead one of our family legions.
-Will be addressed as 'brother'.

Tiro
-A senator who has recently joined the house; he has a smaller influence on discussions of the house.
-Cannot lead a full family legion. (which means he may be allowed to lead a small force)
-Will be addressed as 'friend'.

The Oath of Loyalty
I am a brother of the Familia Aquilae Ascendtis. I pledge to be eternally loyal to the Republic of Rome, and the House and uphold its values so as to allow our Republic to rise to greater heights.

OOC: some parts, particularly the description shall be modified soon; and I thought the oath idea was a rather good way to give this a "brotherhoodish" feeling.

-Handles all recruiting for the family

"Honored Princeps, I swear here and now my loyalty to you and this great brotherhood. I would like to ask that we get down to our first order of business, that is, filling the open ranks. As governor of our current capital; I ask that I be accepted as Pro-Magistrate for the next 10 years. I would nominate Praetor Caivs Cotta Aquila for Magistrate of Finance. Quintus Aemilius Regillus walked through the pillars of the vast new building. He inspected scrutinousmy the quality of the fresco's on either side of the walls.
He walked deeper into in temple, his clients waiting outside and not even attended by a single servant.
It was still early morning, and as much as he tried, he did not discover any living being.
Luckely it was in his nature to prepare for all possibilities, so he snatched a scroll out of the folds of his toga, and left it on the curule table in the back of the temple.
He walked out, back straight, in the direct of the Forum, followed by his steadily grwoing band of clients.

"Honourable brothers, I'm glad that I had the possibility to come here. The securing of Ambrakia and the organisation and preparation of Roman governorship over this lately captured city was not easy, but the Consul of the Legions was kind enough to send me reinforcements to ensure peace, so I could leave the city in the hands of my most trustworthy and loyal officer.

I second Cnaevs Cornelius' motion of him being Pro-Magistrate for the next 10 years and Praetor Cotta Magistrate of Finance. As the longest-serving Legatvs of this house and current commander - after the next Senatorial Session hopefully the permanent one - , and since I'm the most battle-tested Legatvs in the entire Republic, I hereby run for the post of Magistrate of War. As commander of a Legion, I cannot afford another post, which condemns me to stay in a city, anyway.

Two young boys run through the streets, concealed are some eggs just recently stolen from a chicken coop. Shouts are heard as the boys push through the crowd of people congregating outside of the new Familia Aquilae Ascendtis house. They push their way onto the steps of the building, the guards surprised at their rambunctious behavior. The two boys, Sextvs and Decimvs, hurl their eggs at the building, the dinarii that was paid to them for doing so could be heard jingling in the ruffles of their tunics. Sextvs throws his final egg in the face of one guard and the two boys sprint off into the crowd once more, never to be seen again.
