    well,we assumed that
Poland will wait patiently to hear from the German diplomats 'on the ground' about their offer. We offered to negotiate in good faith from the very start and were attacked despite this, so the good members of this group will excuse us if we consider these talks merely preliminary.

As preliminary talks they seem to have promise. I assure you this was not a war of our choosing, and is very much against our desire.
meant that they'd be open to negiotation, not a sneak attack without any warning whatsoever. We are also pissed about them destroying our crusading army, that was making it's way to assist in the crusade,as this army was despatched assuming that the war was over.

Let us be clear, the Romans claimed they agreed with the terms proposed by the Order but they failed to live up to those terms. The siege of Potsdam was to be abandoned immediately, but Potsdam was still under siege. The army at Gorlitz was to move east immediately, but no troops from Gorlitz had moved east at all. Two broken companies of archers had moved south to reinforce Prague, but if that's a crusading army then the pagans have already won.

The Romans have made excuses about these breaches, but the fact is they agreed to do these things and did not do them. We would have welcomed negotiations about these points, public talks just like we invited when Gorlitz was first claimed, but instead the Germans nodded their heads, smiled, and ignored their promises. Poland had no choice but to continue the war which the German Emperor needlessly began.

Poland will not be a lapdog of the west! We wish God's peace on all people, and good fortune to the Order in their war efforts, but when attacked we must defend ourselves no matter the cost.

A wide sardonic smile spreads on the Khan's emissary as he listens to the Christians bickering among themselves.

yes, becuase I had 1 turn to go before it fell. I didn''t think that anyone would be stupid enough to take take as an invatation to launch an attack, but you seem to be stupider than I thought.

You actually attacked me, as I'm sure you recall. You then agreed to do something that, when the time came, you decided not to do without so much as a word of notice, and yet you expect me to stick to my side of the deal even though I never agreed to it.

And now you're in the mood to trade insults about it? Personally I'd rather just settle it in the game. Good luck.

Shaking his head from all the nonsense heard at the Council, the representative of the Ordenstaat rises to speak:

As much as it pains the Order to take sides in a futile conflict between Christian Kings, we must side with the Polish Empire in these matters. The Germanies have repeatedly showed a lack of goodwill and a disregard for diplomacy in the current situation and as such, have forfeited their credibility before the other nations of the world.

We urge the Holy Roman Emperor to seek a peaceful solution through quick negociations with the Polish crown so that matters in the West can be resolved with haste.

In matters of the crusade, the armies of the Hochmeister have destroyed an advanced force from Lithuania that was encamped within the territory of the Ordenstaat as well as laid siege to the castle of Hrodna. In the North, the garrison at Dunaberg successfully sallied and repulsed the armies besieging the fortress.

We are also saddened to inform the representative of the Rus that their leader has been slain in glorious battle by the good forces of the Order. The captured remnants of the Novgorodian army were of course set free with a promise never again to pick up arms against their Christian brothers.

Should the crown of Novgorod wish to reconsider its hasty war with the Ordenstaat, we are always willing to negociate a cessation of hostilities.

As for Lithuania, if you wish for peace, our initial proposal still stands.

    The epic sally at Dunaberg:

This proves without doubt that Order Peasants > Lithuanian Peasants.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

No thanks. We would rather fight to the end than accept your "deal" that involved the servitude and forced conversion of our people.

I have received news of a major battle west of Riga, where the Hochmeister, his second in command and one of his Komturs were defeated by the Grand Duke's son. Meanwhile to the east the siege of a Russian settlement was relieved by Lithuanian forces and Dunaburg has fallen. Only the loss of Hrodna's tiny garrison against a large Teutonic army breaks up this string of Lithuanian victories.

We hope that the new Hochmeister Hans proves to be a reasonable man amenable to a fair peace treaty.

The grim Polish dignitary rises again to speak,

Dark days for the people of Germany as Hof falls to the Polish advance and Stettin is placed under siege. God willing their Emperor will see reason and submit to vassalage.

On the eastern front the last of the Polish rebels at Bialystok and Liuboml have been brought back into the Polish Empire. If any nation wishes to make a claim to these lands let them speak here and make a fair offer. Our ears are open as they were with Gorlitz.

In happier news Prince Czeslaw has joyfully taken the hand of Princess Ingrid of Denmark as his wife, thus sealing a permanant and surely bountiful alliance between our two peoples!

Poland's emissary addresses the chamber once more.

Gentlemen I am deeply pleased to announce that the war between the Romans and the Empire of Poland is at an end. The Roman Emperor and his son were both slain in battle during the assault on Madgeburg thus bringing an end to the interest of the Holy Roman Empire in the affairs of the east. Stettin, Potsdam, and another small castle were also taken this year. Only Hannover remains free, under some jumped up rebel, of the former German holdings and it is also claimed by the Empire of Poland though not yet under siege.

It is a great day, a day of peace. Let all who love peace and honorable dealing celebrate! Let any who plan treachery be warned! The Emperor of Poland has declared a tax holiday throughout the Empire and sent quality foods to the council here for a feast to which all are invited.

God willing there will be peace soon on other fronts as well.

With a deep bow and an unmissable grin the emissary returns to his seat as servants begin to file in and set up tables for the feast.

OOC: With this war over I no longer think it appropriate for me to sub for pagan factions. That's not a warning that I'm planning a war, but there is an alliance between Poland and the Order and I think there should be at least a few turns between my last sub and even a potential conflict.
