theres a recharge every 5 melees. So its kind of like pre-emptive reloading in downtime now....used up 3 melees, got a few seconds, use up 2 more to stay fresh.

It really doesnt affect corner camping from what I've seen, but its easier to pounce as a hunter, especially if you wait until they are smacking around horde.

And the booms. Oh the booms. Brutality. I played 3 games this morning and got 2500+ points per game thanks to booms, obviously from people who had no idea of the nerf. Get now while the gettins good.

People will get used to it. Personally I'm considering changing my weapon of choice.

Shotties are even more useful now.

You gotta line up the shots, know the mechanics of bullet pentration.

Hunters get annyoed at me when I have the AR and I shoot through a wall and kill them on my team mate. Bullets that penetrate something don't harm team mates.

The melee nerf in versus made certain sections much harder. The elevator in No Mercy, for instance, feels almost impossible to get through now. I think I made it through once or twice, but only barely. It's easier to get bogged down. The very ends of the levels, also, are very difficult to get through because running out in the open is much harder than it used to be. You can't just swat all the Zombies away from you anymore.

I've gradually learned to conserve melee, but I get the feeling a lot of the time that some of my teammates haven't noticed the change yet, and so are now much more likely to get separated in places like the elevator. Over all, though, I do like it a lot - it's so much easier to get people as the hunter and the smoker now, because the survivors can't put up an invincible wall of melee blocking anymore. Well, maybe they can, but doing so will actually require some degree of planning and teamwork now.

rotfl, I ate it pretty laughably. The timing is the thing, I keep expecting the game to move faster when it's slow and slower when it's fast, so I end up running off by myself or standing around with my back turned while a hunter jumps me from behind.

Took me a long time to learn the controls as the infected as well. I still haven't entirely figured them out.

Since I took over a friends steam acc to play L4D, I wish I could reset the server saved achievements. Too bad I can't.

Does anyone know if there's a map or mod that allows single-player versus? As in, playing the infected. It would be nice to be able to try out some infected tactics and multi-player doesn't really allow that...

Just played the first level of a new campaign. Took dozens of screenies (71, though some will not be on display), that I'll post around here. The general outline is that the first level was rather boring (In terms of map design), and at least the Survivor AI has some pathfinding problems along with an extremely unusual number of horde appearances, both in length interval (They kept coming), and in horde numbers (They were huge, hordes lasted up to a minute.) The level was also extraordinarily long, which might be a good thing.

Anyways, here comes. The campaign is called Dead City. DISCLAIMER: If you open the spoils you will be flooded by a sea of images.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The starting point of Dead City. Besides the usual, these come with 3 Pipes and 3 Molotovs ready. As soon as we stepped off the Starting point, a horde event hit.

A little bit into the level, still in some sort of basement, another horde event.

    Killing the said horde.

Out of the basement, into the Real World.

Little bit further, here's just one in a plentiful number of Horde triggering switches I had to press in the level.

And there comes our friendly neighbours...

    ...Which we eventually dispose of.

The switch opened two gates, we went into one which lead to nowehre but more zombies.

    Still in the wrong gateyard.

Now here's something I never saw. Here was Louis happily walking with no enemy around when he apparently tripped in the air and incapacitated himself. Francis is such a helpful guy.

Thereafter, we entered matrix-styled text, the sound still came out regularly though.

Now through the right gate, onto a bridge full of burning cars.

Apparently, Bill (Me) gained Infected power, as he skillfully climbs a wall with little to climb from

...Hm, should I pounce them? They're so unsuspecting.

Soon enough I enter a building, which I don't really like anymore and you'll see why. The first floor right here.

Hordes come and come and come and come.

    Another horde cleaned.

Looking through the floor, check the native's homes.

I R UBERLEETZOR WIZ SUPERCOMPUTER KTHXbai

    2nd floor.

Hm...I initially enjoyed being each time farther from the bridge I had just been on, but that would soon change.

Upon coming to the final floor, there's a woman who says "OMG GIMME A KISS!".

"I WANT ONE TOO!", anyways this was one long horde.

    3rd Floor.

Since I couldn't find a way to go down (As all rooms seemed to lead nowhere and there was a Medical case down there), I decided to get pragmatic and see if an old-fashioned jump would do the trick. Apparently Bill thought otherwise.

Finally manage to pass over those stupid crates blocking our way. Anyways, had to take a different stairway.

Someone is doing some large collection of booze.

This is the place where I wanted to reach with my jump. Upon getting there, we have another horde triggering switch to press, which opens a gate.

Beyond that gate there were more zombies to kill.

    Our way forward.

Hm..This looks familiar. (e.g. Bridge I had been before going to the building. I'm just on the other side of a fence now)

    Prooceeding.

    Two more switches. Nice. -_-

This has an explanation. On the last screen, one of the switches was to call an elevator. However, there were some handstairs to climb to the building, which would lead exactly where the elevator would lead (Minus the horde attracted by the elevator. Upon climbing the stairs, I found out that the AI refused to do what I just did, and on top of that another horde event hit. Glad I had the difficulty in normal, as I had to fend off for myself while my mates enjoyed some time off down at the courtyard...

..So I went back down, pressed the switch which attracted a horde..

Francis has some problems getting unstuck from the side of the elevator once it reached down. The problem was solved as he teleported himself into the elevator.

Oversight of the bridge as the elevator goes up.

And we enter another building which is basically a perfect replica of the first one. *sigh*

    Don't worry, I got a screen:

You can see Veho there on the ground, along with the rest of his team, as they were incapacitated after Veho blew up the gas station.
