    Damnit, don't even remind me!

Will this be getting its own sub forum or anything of that nature?
We hope so. I'll wait till I get the results of the first tournament so can assure the powers at be that this is not a dung tossing competitio but a serious tournament. So then we might have our own subforum and expand on the idea.

Would you be interested in joining?
To settle the deal between Romans and Greeks once and for all... both Italy and Greece are in deep s*** at the moment. Do you really think who had the biggest spear in antiquity makes any difference?

I would indeed, I'll have a look into setting up and getting onto Hamachi. Will post here when I've figured it all out. In the mean time, keep those replays coming! They're very entertaining.

Now, all four of the remaining jury members will have a look at this battle (playing it right now), and let's see what rules Tolg broke :p

I think the replay of the first match was played on 'Large' scale. Is that the designated scale? Or is it just whatever is agreed by the contestants for the match?

I normally play on Huge if my opponent can support it.

You may choose whichever unit size you want, though I hope that all battles can be fought at large or huge, smaller size makes the battles much less interesting. Then again, that's just my personal opinion.

The first round of the tournament has started. Who's going to prevail?

Gladius or Sarissa, Scutum or Aspis?

Damn, I'm itching to install EB now and finally start playing/judging/kicking some Romaioi ass. Will look at the reaply even today maybe. By the way, I have contacted TWFanatic and he hasn't answered yet. Nothing to worry much about, since I can play after Thursday, but just saying. Maybe you, Βελισάριος, could also contact him (or at least try to)?

Damn it, I wanted to practice against the computer in a custom battle before the big match, BUT, I can't find ANY Roman units... I have checked each unit one by one down the whole list 3 times through. I tried using the computer to select some 'appropriate' units and it selected some roman ones that I couldn't find anywhere on the list.

ANY idea how to sort this out? I have a game tomorrow and need to figure it out soon. Thx.

Are you running the multiplayer.exe? That's the one which makes custom battles playable with faction troops.

The Greeks are on defensive formation this round. The Romans need to break through. :D

    Rematched..

    This time I lost

    Romans 1
    Greek 1

This time my enemy switched from greek phalanx to macedonian, avoiding the front of the phalanx I tried a large flank attack, which failed, then my general died and the situation was lost.

Still Looking forward to the next fight!

    Any chance to redeem myself?

    Replay Match -- Pontic Victory

Flavius Camillus (Romani) vs Tsidneku (Pontos)

    F. Camillus fielded a similar army, save for the ranged. Tsidneku changed to a phalangite based army this round. I think this replay shows great use of the mobility in a Roman army. The battle began on the Pontic Right flank where the cavalry forces clashed. The Pontic cavalry were largely repelled then shepherded by the Roman Antesignani spearmen.

Meanwhile, the Roman front had split into half and tried to try a massive flank on the Pontic phalanx line. I split and turned my phalanx after I made sure he was dedicating to the flank. It was a messy battle with many mini-fronts and cavalry charges into enemy hinds. In the end, Pontus was able to gain a victory after slaying the Roman imperator, afterwhich the Roman troops started routing.

    Romans: 1
Greeks: 1 (not sure whether to count the technical win by IrishHitman?)

You can find a summary of the first match below, along with the original replay link.

    Second match replay: http://www.mediafire.com/?3dvx1u20ynn

First Match -- Roman victory: game was replayed because Imperial Eastern Archers were used.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Flavius Camillus (Romani) vs Tsidneku (Pontos)

Notate bene: We realized he had Accensi in his army (which I think are Camillian era troops?), but I agreed that it was alright and we should play the battle through anyway.

    F. Camillus's army was structured in an immensely long line with cavalry and Antesignani on the flanks. It was a shoot-out between my Heavy Archers and his Accensi until his Imperial Eastern Archers joined it from behind his line. My forces were getting peppered to shreds, so I decided to bring the battle to him and charged him. I flanked him from both sides with Scythian Noble Cavalry, but I follied and his Antesignani ate up a good 1-2 of my 6 units of cavalry.

One of my archer units had already been decimated when the battle began, so I had little to shoot down his winding cavalry. Camillus' great use of cavalry won him the day, I would think -- that, and his archers that I didn't expect.

    Romans: 2
    Greeks: 0

The replay has been uploaded to Mediafire: you can find it here: http://www.mediafire.com/?zzzgcjm00nx
