I'm not 100% sure if I will be available all coming weekend (loads of parties, I love uni lol), but sign me up as I should be able to play during the periods between the partying.
I would play on the Hellenic side. Timezone - GMT. Probably will be available for a few test battles during the week, just need to install Hamachi again.
Top o' the mornin', lads! 'Tis a good day to die!
We have our first match-ups. These were randomly distributed using the good ol' d8 (since we happened to, coincidentally, have 8 contestants on all sides. 3 of the Imperatores still haven't replied to my invitation though I saw they were active on the forums recently, the Strategoi who were supposed to battle them, if they haven't answered your messages you'll be given priority in the next round.
Before you begin 1. Contact each other via PM or however you see fit and establish a date and time for the battle, then inform myself, Βελισάριος via PM with your decision. 2. The jury will choose the map for each battle. 3. The attacking army for this round will be: The Romans. The Greeks will have to hold their position as the Romans try to break it (next round it will be other way around). 4. After you've slaughtered each other, save the replay in the following format [Attacking General's name]vs[Defending General's name][Date of battle:ddmm].rpy, using the names you have on the forum (e.g.: TolgvsHunGeneral0203.rpy for a battle that took place today, March 2nd, ScipioAfricanusvsHannibal0910.rpy, etc.)
So... here are the first round's opponents: 1. Antisocialmunky vs. IrishHitman (It was random, I swear! If you two still have connection issues, let me know) 2. Alexanderthegreater vs. Potocello (So, the one with the Greek name plays Rome and the one with an Italian-like name is the Greek... how messed up is that?) 3. Blxz vs. Gabeed (the two guys with my two favourite signatures) 4. Rootje vs. BurningEGO (EGO, if Rootje doesn't reply, PM me) 5. We shall fwee...Wodewick vs. Silence Hunter (Hunter, same situation) 6. TWFanatic vs. Maion Maroneios (watch the jury member be put to shame. Maion, TWF hasn't replied, you know the drill) 7. Tolg vs. Phalanx300 (I believe you two have met) 8. Fluvius Camillus vs. Tsidneku (somehow the two last minute entries have found each other)
I'll send a score of PMs myself to make sure everyone's informed.

Hey, are you trying to intimidate and humiliate me before the battle? We shall see, when the sons of mighty Makedon shall speak for themselves on the battlefield
EDIT: Since I've never actually played any online battles (except LAN ones), could someone (*cough*antisocialmunky*cough*) please explain how this 'Hamachi' thing works?
Check if your firewall allows RTW to access the Internet.
Start EB using the multiplayer .exe
Click "Multiplayer"
Click "Online Battles"
If it asks you to enter your CD key, click "Change CD key" and enter the key of your copy of RTW
Afterwards click "Online battles" again.
When it asks you to enter your name do so (preferably the name you use on the forums so your opponent can recognize you)
You should now be in the Lobby and your screen should look somewhat like this:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
In order to play an online battle, one player has to "host" a game and the other one has to "join" it.
a) If you're the one joining just check all the three servers (Chat Lobby, Competitive and Friendly) in the box at the bottom right for a yellow game name, if there are multiple ones check the host's name by placing your cursor on top of the game's entry in the list.
b) If you're the one hosting, click the icon with the two screens. Your screen will look like this:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
. Enter a name for your game, select the max. number of players and the unit scale and then press "Host Custom Battle". (You don't need a password) Afterwards do what you would do if you were setting up a sp custom battle.
After both players have joined select your factions, press the arrow in the corner at the bottom right, set up your armies press the arrow again and FIGHT!
Don't forget to save the replay once your done!
II. Guide to play EB over the Internet using Hamachi
Install Hamachi and read it's tutorial. It only tales ~2 minutes but helps a lot.
a) Create a Hamachi network (press the triangul button at the bottom left of the Hamachi window, select create network, enter the name and a password and hit OK)
b) Join the network that was created by your opponent. (The triangular button again, join network and enter name and pw of the network)
Now it get's tricky:
Cut your main internet connection.
Start EB using the mp .exe and click "Multiplayer" and "Lan Battle"
Minimize your game (Alt + Tab or Alt + Esc)
Reenable your Internet connection
return to the game and do as described in the previous guide (Step 8).
[B]Don't forget to save the replay once your done!
Say, do you know how to solve connectivity issues? I can connect to everyone fine but I can't ping them and some of them I can't connect to. I think it might just be windows firewall blocking pings so I dunno. I did try to host a game with someone that couldn't ping me and it seemed to work.
Hello all, I'm new to this site but was reading over this thread and downloaded a few replays to see what this was all about. Great stuff, some very enjoyable replays, in particular the battle outside the temple of Artemis at Ephesus. Great stuff! Poor Kataphraktoi .
Will this be getting its own sub forum or anything of that nature?

Damnit, don't even remind me!

We hope so. I'll wait till I get the results of the first tournament so can assure the powers at be that this is not a dung tossing competitio but a serious tournament. So then we might have our own subforum and expand on the idea.

Exactly the same situation as maion, so thanks for the info.
Good I can still join the tournament, I will be Romani player if that's the one you are short on.
GMT +1 is the zone I live in.
I don't really have large amounts of empty time now. I will discuss this with my opponent perhaps.
Phalanx was defending with a minor height advantage, my Principes engaged his Hoplitai while my Pedites Extraord. and my cavalry flanked him on the left. The Pedites were caught up n battle with some more of his Hoplitai but my cav was successful, routed his inferior cav and then finally charge the backs of his phalanx, causing his defeat.
To sum it up:
Romans: 1
Greeks: 0
Of course only if I the jury approves.
Actually I made a minor faux pas: Perhaps this game shouldn't have been played before the maps were officially announced, I hopes it's valid nonetheless. (The majority of the jury already voted in favor of "Mount Olympus" anyway)
Yes, Tolg... Olympus was pretty much the consensus for that battle. Unless HunGeneral disagrees, in which case you're screwed :p
Kidding.
I'll post the other maps soon. I still need an alternative for Thermopylai. Can't understand why you guys don't like it... it's much better than the "Danube Delta", for instance.
Fluvius, check the thread's intro message, you have a comprehensive guide to multiplayer, plus the extensive rules over there, which you must read.

Gotta bribe HunGeneral. You think one or two villages in Gallia Transalpina will be enough? ;)

Dnube Delta seems somewhat plain, but fair.
Also I already suggested "enter the colossus".

I thought of joining in too, but I've never played multiplayer before. Today I logged in through the multiplayer-exe or how you call that. But everyone was using BI and I couldn't join in
Am I really the only underdeveloped one, who still uses the original RTW-exe or what's going on
Install Hamachi, look if there are people online and see if they want to play. If so start up EB Multiplayer, go to lan and type in your name. Press okey and your in the lobby and can play there with other players.

The main network used is the "Europa Barbarorum" (PW: greecevsrome), though I'm afraid this one will be full soon. (Or perhaps it already is)
