Corrupted Saved Games

More of a note than a request for help. Perhaps the computer gods have aligned against me...

Playing RTW 1.5/EB 1.2, Romani, 244 BC with 3 versions of the campaign saved: autosave, quicksave and a manual save. These saves were executed at three different times and all three are corrupt judging by Bovi's explanation (05-16-2008 post). Each time I try to load any of the three or use the "continue campaign" menu option, I get a CTD...

I'm assuming all is lost and a new campaign must be initiated...

Once, I got corrupted 8 saves of 10. Now I'm keeping 30 different saves.

Do saved games become corrupted - or cocrrupted so much - if you play without activating scripts?
