    Default Playing with the TWC

I'm not sure how this will work, but I was thinking of organizing a get together game for both Org and TWC mafia players.

If I can work out the system, we can make this a competition for which site has better players, but its more of friendly game, learning each others tactics and making new friends.

    What do you guys think?

    A splendid idea!

This will make the two forums come closer together! A new future, in which TotalWar players can unite! One forum, one goal, one Maffia!

Will this not create competition + trolling + flaming? If it is than count me in! If it isn't.....count me in as well! :)

I don't have the brightest of views of some parts of TWC's membership. However, fortunately, the participants of TWC's Coliseum would fit in well with the spammier, but still charming, parts of the Org, such as the Frontroom and Gameroom. It might create competition, but if I know the current Coliseumers well enough, they won't troll nor flame. Besides, the current holder of the Capo crown is a TWC moderator, so perhaps the onus is on the Org to regain its honour.

Winner can have their title as the "better mafia players of 200X" and the right to host the next game on their website

Or is that bit too much?

    @Captain Blackadder

Thank you for the links. Ill read it through

Well I could recommend a system for the game to work there was a game on twc a while ago called the tale of two cities where you could banish someone to the other city and that was how the town had to win by making sure that it had no mafia there.

It seems like the competition already started...

As long as the "fun" > "competition", I'm fine with the idea. TWC doesn't have such a large base of dedicated mafia players nor the tradition we do though. But they do have a bunch of excellent patrons and it would be nice to have them visiting the Org more often.

Why don't we just convert them to Orgahism?

Well you would have one thread here and one on twc everyone would sign up to both sites when you played you have two choices you could either deport someone or lynch them so you have two goals firstly you have to get rid of your mafia but you want to make sure that the other city has less people then you by the end.

Firstly, Thanks heaps for the feedback

    @ Captain Blackadder

Could you give me the link to this game? I would like to read it through.

    @ Everyone

Its likely to end up as a competition but I'm working on the system to make it fun> competition and I need some help doing it.

I have came up with a setting which could work but its only a rough plan. We might use what Captain Blackadder suggested.

TWC can be the first host to get everything started.

The model is Sparta. We have two kings, one each from TWC and Org. Three body guards each who knows their king but not allowed to contact him.

Two mafia from each forum, representing Athenian assassins and Thebeans during the Peloponnesian war.

The victory will be decided with points awarded to the following actions.

+1 points for each votes on the assassins.
+4 if mafia successfully takes out the king.
+6 for a mafia victory and +2 extra if both mafia players are alive.
+3 for MVP chosen by host and two judges from TWC and Org
+1 for Funniest comment of the game (why not)
+1 for best write up (lynching write ups is to be done by kings)
+2 for who ever started the bandwaggon on traitors.
+1 for the best analysys in the match

-2 for insults (to be warned and penalized by the judges)
-2 per WoG (unless there is a credible reason)

In case players with roles were WoGged, that players role will be passed to random player chosen from the respectable Forum.

To make it something special, lets make this only once per 6 month or per year.

I believe this kind of game between the two forum, will fire up the love for our forum, grasping the interest from none mafia players, making our mafia games more popular. Our huge game for example has difficulty gathering above 30 players except the special case of Capo. Not only we can encourage none mafia players to join, but also by knowing other forums players, we can join their game or they can join ours when more players are needed.

Of cause, this may create more rivalry like the example of State of Origin matches in Australia or Soccer match between England and France. But as long as we respect our posting rules, we can keep it civil and possibly succeed in creating friendship.

For the record, while I was the one who suggested this project, I am not that comfortable to host the game. So if anyone has opinions, ideas or volunteering to host, those will all be appreciated

    Cheers

Got a reply from Jubal saying he is too busy atm, and I should discuss with Thermal Mercury (Ares) and DisgruntledGoat..

Ares, seeing as your the sub don of the TWC, could you spread the words to your people please? If everyone is willing to join then I think its good to go.

ummm, ok but there really are only a handful of dedicated players there, about 12 at most (not counting org members!) transferring over there (when not conflicting with the org) will boost the game there, plus we need more signees for the games taking sign ups now. Idea:

-If you havent already set up an account in the TWC forum

for those on a time issue
-Instead of taking your usual 2/3 - 3/3 games on org, reduce it by 1 so its 2/3 - 1/3, then one less org game will allow you to join a TWC mafia game

for those on can't find the forum issue
-Go to the forum index - games, chat and activities section, enter the coliseum and then the mafia sub-forum, games are sticked and labelled, finished ones are unsticked and at the bottom

for those who hate the twc
-Forget the rest of the forum, this part only has about 12-14 players all in all, and all of the dedicated ones are friendly (DisgruntledGoat, Xavier Dragnesi, Double A, Capt' Blackadder, Rob_The_Celt Me, ATPG, etc.)

for those not wanting to go to the TWC
-It's a logical choice, games have no limit as of yet, the org queues are bulging, so having some TWC games elevates things, the actual ORG-/TWC mafia match itself could be organized in either forum though, I guess

Just bookmark the Mafia forum, and it'll take no more time than browsing another org forum.

The Coliseumers are a friendly lot on the whole. The dedicated senior moderator for that part of TWC is scottishranger, whom one or two here may know.

An alternative to contests between the org and TWC might be one game each year which draws on players from both forums. The org already has Capo, which has been hugely successful at the org, and which has produced a TWC winner. If necessary, an orgah might organise something similar, but host it at TWC, as TWC's counterpart. Make it, not a contest between the two forums, but a biannual event, that happens once a year on TWC and the org.

I never thought about the player ratio

I was checking around TWC yesterday. While there were about 150 or so members active on the Org, TWC had at least 3 times more numbers at all time. If we can help them out a bit as we already have long wait for the Que here, I think we will have a Win-Win situation.

I would still like to have the once in a year match purely for Org vs TWC. I think making it more of a competition then usual will boost up the love of both the forums and hopefully increase interest in the number of mafia players.

IIRC, in TWC you had to be something important in the community to post in the mafia forum. I was a peasant there. Here, even if you are a Junior Member you can join the gameroom (contacting Andres or Sigurd) and post (you can't edit your posts if you are a JM, nothing to worry about, those TWC members can be promoted).

No you don't at the start it was in the symposiom where you had to be a ctizen the equivelent of senior member here. But after the first game it was moved in the mafia subsection of the games room where anyone can post.

IIRC one needed to be Jubal Barca or a privileged admin to start a thread in the Mafia forum, but that may have been relaxed since I was last there. In any case, if you need to make some arrangements, I can have a word with the admins.

While TWC has massive visitor numbers, it has a much smaller and less dedicated Mafia fanbase than the org. In the Mafia forum's early days, I spent a bit of time educating the players there in the nuances of Mafia play, which had already developed here by that time. While I haven't been keeping a close eye on their respective forums (most of my time being spent on moderating TWC), AFAICS the org's Mafia play has developed even further since then, showcased by the Capo games. I feel the best results for a TWC game would come if an orgah hosted a game there, with a large import of orgah players, and the TWCers can learn from the sophistication and energy of the orgah Mafia play. I don't think TWC has the fanbase yet to compete with the orgahs in Mafia, but cross-fertilisation of the kind I suggest would help popularise the game in both forums.
