It looks the same as always, only you have a radius you can see in around the smaller settlements in your provinces. It looks like they have maybe been placed so you can see your whole province, or atleast the important bits of it, but i can be wrong.
You can hopefully use toggle_fow aswell.

im not sure if it will be the same, given that u basically have one large province with multiple settlements and little buildings sprouting up everywhere i would assume the FOW would be minimised within your territory. not saying it wont be there just seems like it would be less.

Given that by this time I think everyone has a good idea of who has what and where, I think if your playing a European country, from the onset of the game most of Europe should be visable with the Americas, Africa and the Middle East all in FOW.

In terms of minimap I think that all factions current positions should be viewable at all times. In this timeperiod Britain would always have known if Russia suddenly started taking bits of Scandanavia or managed to take part of the Middle East. It would be silly if you had to ask for map info to find things like that out.

Don't they have a system (apart from the minimap) which shows things like this?

In previous Total War games I think you had to have either map information or a plenty of spies to alywas know where factions had taken/lost. The minimap didn't auto-update with new info unless you used toggle_fow.

i hear what you are saying, and agree to an extent, but the countries still needed to find those things out somehow.
it wasnt just magic or extremely good vision.

It was done by word of mouth, foreign diplomats, listening to merchants and sailors, even newspapers later on. That sort of thing doesn't really need to be specifically represented in game I think.

Having the fow lifted on the map makes sense in the time period.

It also might explain the time lag between turns. Having toggle_fow on in m2tw could slow the AI turn right down.

    It is there!

Make no mistake. You will only have limited intelligence as to other Countries.

Look at the map of America, see how empty it is!

Jack Lusted said he was surprised by two stacks when he moved on Copenhagen. So you won’t see it all.

Most of it has to await the game to discover though.

I think you will always have up-to-date info on the changing borders of all the countries and territories as land changes hands, as it should be. Like others have pointed out, by this time news of that sort would make its way around Europe within six months (the time elapsed per turn). However, I think the actual fog of WAR will stilll be in effect; that is, you won't be able to see troop movements of other countries unless you have eyes on them (agents or military units of your own within the vicinity).

I wonder if supply lines will be dealt with at all. It seems to me that much of the warfare in this period involved maneuvering around your enemy to try to cut off his supplies, and generally avoiding actual battle where possible... but then, my knowledge of the period isn't great.
