Jefferson Airplane - A Small Package of Value Will Come to You Shortly/ Young Girl Sunday Blues, The House at Pooneil Corners, The Ballad of You and Me and Pooneil, Volunteers, Saturday Afternoon/Won't You Try

Cream - Crossroads, White Room, Tales of Brave Ulysses, Sunshine of Your Love, Sittin' On Top of the World

Big Brother & The Holding Company - Combination of the 2, I Need a Man to Love, Down on Me, Roadblock, Ball and Chain

And, as a bonus: Jimi Hendrix's cover of "Sunshine of your Love"!

I never got the whole laid-back hippie thing... back when I was really into the 60's I always went for the loudest, heaviest and weirdest stuff I could find. Screw all you "groovy" bastards. Heavy is where it's at.

Lots of good stuff listed here. My contribution is Spirit's first album, especially the song Mechanical World.

First time I heard it, I'd just broken-up irrevocably with my fiance, dropped out of college, and was driving back to my parents again. The despairing tone of the song suited my mood at the time perfectly.

Monday Monday, I Saw Her Again and California Dreamin'.

    Edit: I can't believe I missed this...

This song and Funkadelic's Maggot Brain bring me to tears every time I listen to them. Only songs that can do so.
