It stands for Crash To Desktop, where the game closes itself and boots you back to the desktop without warning. They can be caused for any number of different reasons, depending on the circumstances.

When I try to launch the game it just gives me an error report.

While scrolling about the campaign map, my screen went blue with some text, said it was dumping memory onto a disk. This is extremely annoying since I just bought 4GB RAM for Empire. There are my specs:

64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+
465GB Memory
4GB DDR2 RAM at 800MHz
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS

I always have trouble at first with TW games. MTW didn't work on my old PC, M2TW caused crashes, now when I think I'm fine I get this.

EDIT: And it happened again. I'm sick of this and I feel like just giving up on PC games.
