Road to Independance bug?

I thoroughly whooped the British and got the victory screen/cinematic, but am required to hold those territories until 1825 (im in year 1800 atm) to get the achievement. Unfortunately when I get the message that says I won, it brings me back to the main menu. I then go to continue campaign and the save point is before I took the last British settlement.

This same thing happened to me, I'm still trying to figure it out
