If you defeat a faction, u should play it. I defeated Denmark, and I cant play it... So how can you unlock factions?
pevergreen 13:28 03-07-2009
Nowhere has it said this will work.
As of now, you can only play the 12 factions like intended. There are 13 major factions, the Mughal Empire being the 13th unplayable one.
Defeating factions only made some of them playable in Rome: Total War
QAC.

The Mughals are playable. The 13th 'Major faction', and the only unplayable one (in the Grand Campaign, at least from the start) is the USA, because it is an emergent faction. It's listed with the major factions when it appears.

Really?
I thought the Maratha Confed was the playable faction, I've read many many times that the Mughal Empire (Green on campaign map) was not playable...I'm going to launch the game to test.
Yup as i thought.
maratha confederacy are playable, Mughals are not, in custom battles or GC.
They are, however, a Major Faction.

Hmm apologies i must be getting mixed up. Are they the only unplayable major faction then?
pevergreen 14:13 03-07-2009
Yes.
It is believed that they were going to be the playable faction (see the pregame hype about them) they even have intro advice files.

Maybe they were just slightly unfinished or there was a serious bug they needed to fix; before they could be playable?

Why on Earth is this such a persistent rumour? It's popping up everywhere, time and time again.
Fisherking 16:20 03-07-2009
Ok once again
No Factions Unlock on Conquest.
Only the 12 Factions Listed On the Web Site are playable!
There are
No mods yet that make any additional factions playable and it may be quite a while before there are.
