    Default Platoon Fire...

    ...is a KILLER.

I was doing some quick battles to test different graphic setting combos and I did one with:
    - Late units
    - 2 Prussian Grenadier
    vs.
    - 1 Russian Guards

The Grenadiers used platoon fire and just murdered the Guards. It was not even close. Very cool animations too, as the fire rolled from left to right and back again in one continuous process.

I have a feeling I'm gonna make getting this via the tech tree a priority.

Seeing your units utterly destroy the enemy with fancy firing drills really makes teching up worthwhile .

Yep its a deadly process. I just wish ,in my game, that Issac newton hadnt died and set back my research by about 5 years.

Heh they should have intergrated the famous tea as a trait, or a special Britain-only resource. Heck it should be a moral boosting tech.

    Humm, tea huh?

I think it was about the time they gave up coffee for tea that they got a tad dumber. But that is mostly after the game period.

You see what happened when the Americans gave up on tea for coffee…RTI…rotten tea isn’t it?

I would just love to see the Platoon Fire!

Is Advancing Fire a tech or does it go with Platoon Fire?

    My game still isn’t here…

Advancing fire is a tech, I havent got to the point where I have any researched, but from what I've read in the descriptions, advancing fire just has 1 rank shoot, then stand still and reload, second rank moves past shoots then reloads, 3rd rank moves forward etc

I've been wondering about advancing fire. Does it turn on automatically? Suppose I want them to just charge? I have it researched but haven't seen it in action yet.

It's a special ability that toggles via a button press on the UI. The same as melee mode.

I didn't know the postal service in Britain is that slow, because quite frankly, ours seems a lot faster.

This is a very interesting topic and only makes me want the game even more.

Just as a side note, I am not sure the post went through the UK.

The Company is on the island of Jersey just off the French coast.

It would be much easier to send it there, I just have questions about speed now.

    Now About Advancing Fire….???
Does anyone know the answer to my last question?

IIRC advancing fire (is that the name of the tech? i thought it was something like "Fire by rank" :S) is the last military tech on its tree. Not easy to get to. edit: the point being its hard to get that far and post here at the same time.

Advance fire is its own tech. It's on the penultimate level.
