Not the best introduction campaign, if this is the first campaign you chose to play with.
The Hayasdan start difficult with economy in peril, and have strong enemies. If you play well they will grow to a more than capable faction, but you have to make it through the start first. Hayasdan is considered one of the three factions who are difficulty level: Nigh-Possible, a challenge for the best EB players.
If you are new to EB try easier factions, if this is not the case, then I wish you good luck!![]()

You can't recruit Hai units because the Royal Kingdom of Hayasdan doesn't exist yet by 272. There only are a few caucasian tribes under the controll of a dinasty of persian nobles.
Here's a guide about Hayasdans two reforms: click
Hayasdan is extremely fun if you're into cavalry, Archers and HAs, they're my second favorite faction (after Pahlava), but they're quiet difficult. Keep it up. (And never forget that nothing the AS can come up with can beat Caucasian Archers defending a stone walled Karkathiokerta.)

The first round of the tournament has started. Who's going to prevail?
Gladius or Sarissa, Scutum or Aspis?
all the information on hayasdan reforms (exept what units they get) is in the FAQ.

Italians do it better! Chi dice donna dice guai. Abbi donna di te minore, se vuoi essere signore. Donne e buoi dei paesi tuoi. Fiume, grondaia e donna parlatora mandano l'uomo di casa fuora.
And my personal favorite: "Non rimuovere il confine antico fissato dai tuoi padri". In english: "Do not remove the anchent border placed by your fathers". It looses something in the translation......
The FAQ and the pdf on the EB site say different things about the reforms. Which one is right?
I don't know for sure but I'd expect the FAQ to be newer.
The guide is more focused on the "historical" background and is better to understand the general system of the reforms.

Which reform gets the bodyguard upgrade? Or is that toggled by the March of Time?
March of Time.
Hayasdan's reforms don't give you any new units, just the ability to build the government's needed to built the factional MICs which are needed to recruit the old units.

Bodyguard upgrades are tied to the March of Time.
Many thanks. I'll just have to wait for those Romani to get breeding. I've achieved the first set of reforms according to the FAQ (and I'm still allied with the AS!).
AS is such a pain in the arse. While working on my second set of reforms I got fed up with them...punishment time...I raided two of their northern cities on my southern border and razed the crap out of them then let them have the sorry piles of stone back...has been quiet ever since.

That can be effective sometime (razing an enemy faction's settlements as a punishment), but they always seem to get back at you at some point with more hate. As if the AI is actually remembering what you did to them
