    Default recommended difficulty settings

i think im going to have to restart my prussia campaign b/c i keep hearing bad things about hard battle difficulty being too easy. but then again, hard difficulty on naval battles already has me stumped (i cant seem to win ). the land battles are easier.
im on H/H. should i go up to VH/H, or even VH/VH?

    Man up. VH/VH

It does provide the greatest challenge.

Is it the greatest challenge in the sense that it's the best AI, or is the AI given unrealistic bonuses like in RTW?

    Thanks

Prussia is quite a little powerhorse (pony?) of nation (never mind the size!), so VH campaign is still quite doable.

For battle difficulty I think hard feels just fine as the fights tend to get to lopsided in VH to feel 'real'.

So for me it would be VH/H, but of course just things are always a matter of personal preference as well.

I played on battle difficulty hard, campaign difficulty very hard; and did quite well.
I can not say that naval battles on hard are hard, but I played the Dutch, and you know, Prussia in not a seagoing nation

I play on VH/H and the land battle AI is as dumb as a post. The naval AI is fantastic though! I still lose battles even when i outnumber and my ships outclass the enemy, which is strange really because i have ships like galleons (not galleys, galleons) exchanging fire with ships with less firepower and less hull strength, but my galleon still sinks first.

VH campaign if you're prepared for factions with 1 city to develop full stacks in 2 turns, even when every one of their villages are besieges... but yeah, H battle difficulty is a good balance. Some stat stacking, but enough to balance out better human tactics.
