They're okay every once in a while.
Frankly, though, I think the 60's Mothers of Invention is still the greatest rock band ever, even moreso than the Beatles.
I liked Era of Vulgaris.

That's quite harsh. While the modern Metallica is in fact boring, I grew up listening to Master of Puppets and One. Can't say that was boring for me.

Compare those albums to Ace of Spades and Discharge's debut album.
...Of course, I might be looking at it from the wrong (right?) end of the Thrash spectrum.

Probably their worst or 2nd to worst album... but still not bad. Songs For The Deaf, Rated R, and Self-Titled (Queens of the Stone Age) were the best ones.

Agreed.

Agreed here as well, growing up to that is pretty cool.
Anyone listened to:
You Think I Ain't Worth A Dollar, But I Feel Like A Millionaire
Avon
Song For The Dead
Infinity
In The Fade
?
Those are some of the best ones that people usually haven't heard.

I...
tried to, man. Sorry.
There is no best band. Only personally preferencial bands.
QOTSA, I don't mind, I do enjoy their earlier stuff sometimes yeah.
But, each to their own.

Sex Pistols.
Oh...and a very sincere nod to Zappa, the Mothers were, well, out there.....help I'm a rock!

Yeah ofc I like Songs For the Deaf etc. But Vulgaris somehow hit me when I was in the US for a year. It was just the right album at the right time with the right people, even though it may not be as complex as others.
Plus Kyuss! "Welcome to sky valley" Yaaaaaay.
Haven't heard of one of them

not necessarily. IMO Death Magnetic is much better than St. Anger and LOAD, which both were horrible albums (what was james hetfield thinking???) and that coming from a fanboi like me.
Death magnetic returns to Metallicas roots of mostly thrashing and not as much singing.
but i wil agree that their best work is Ride the Lightning (album) and Maste rof Puppets (album).
