They're okay every once in a while.
Frankly, though, I think the 60's Mothers of Invention is still the greatest rock band ever, even moreso than the Beatles.

There is no best band. Only personally preferencial bands.

Yeah ofc I like Songs For the Deaf etc. But Vulgaris somehow hit me when I was in the US for a year. It was just the right album at the right time with the right people, even though it may not be as complex as others.Probably their worst or 2nd to worst album... but still not bad. IMO Death Magnetic is much better than St. Anger and LOAD, which both were horrible albums (what was james hetfield thinking???) and that coming from a fanboi like me.That's quite harsh. Death magnetic returns to Metallicas roots of mostly thrashing and not as much singing.
but i wil agree that their best work is Ride the Lightning (album) and Maste rof Puppets (album).
