    Thumbs up Protectorates

As Hanover, after driving the Prussians out of Germany, restricting them to East Prussia, and establising them as Protectorates (I didn't even have to pay them anything; they were that desperate for peace!), I was able to unite all of Germany in a confederation!

This included all of the German states, which were established as my protectorates. Some accepted the deal without any demands, while Bavaria and Wuttenburgh each wanted a couple thousand(denarii? I forget.). They were all on friendly terms with me, so that must have helped. Despite that, I have to say, Protectorates are rather easy to establish compared to RTW and M2TW, where factions would only accept if you gave them a couple million denarii.

    Awesome, eh?

EDIT: Couple screenies from the bloody Second Battle of Berlin:

Holding the trenches on the right flank against a Prussian charge.

Hanoverian troops hoisting their flags after reinforcing pikemen helped drive the Prussians back.

The battle was pretty close. I was behind in military technologies, had few line infantry, no bayonets, and relied on militia; this was in stark contrast to the Prussian regulars with their ring bayonets who could charge home and win a melee against my troops easily. If it weren't for the pikemen and the trenches, I would've lost. Thousands had died, but it was not without a cause; the German states are now united! United we stand! Hanover! The Queen!!!

it is, but minor factions have been unlocked by modders however the GC is incredibly unstable and if u have any factions emerge u get a CTD.

that said yes it is alot easier to get peace/protectorates etc. but i found there to be little point, i wanted to see how the AI would react if it had been smashed. so i beat mughal down as marthras to 3 provinces and asked for peace demanding 2 of their 3 provinces, they accepted. i then went to war with them bout 10 years later smashed both their armies and besiged their captial, i offered them peace for to become a protectorate they accepted. i was like woo, then i was like boo, 100 extra gold a turn for having a protectorate..... so i broke the agreement killed them and am now getting 2k+ from said province its really not worthwhile as far as i can see. it just mite be a bit more historically accurate if u protectorate the whole of the world instead of conquering it ?

That is pretty much how Napoleon played it out. Everyone was a protectorate.

Have you conquered the world with the Iroquois already?

Protectorates are a good way of taking down a faction without having to go to the trouble of holding those tricky home provinces. It's also a good way of preserving the variety of the campaign map, while still being able to take stuff .

Most of what you say isn't true. If you try playing as an emergent faction, the game will crash. It will also crash if you try playing as a faction that will be merged with another one (13 Colonies, Louisiana, New Spain, etc.). However, the rest are fair game; revolutions work great, and in my Hanover campaign, I can see that Scotland, Ireland, and USA have emerged.

That said, some are glitchy, such as the Iroquois fleets, and their lack of recruitment possibilities in Europe, but those are things that weren't designed to happen, & it won't crash anyways.

Hanover is so cool and works perfectly. I'm gonna head to India.
