    Default Few different unit faces?

At the Empire Total War website it is told that:

"Units in ETW are hugely improved over Med2, each unit can have variants of each body part modelled- torso, legs, arms, head, hat, cross-belts, hair, cuffs, face hair, and hands. It’s a huge number of variations to render and a challenge to efficient instancing.
The higher your Unit Detail setting the more variation you will see in your units, from coarse level detail such as two chaps with different coloured tunics, to fine detail such as different beard styles close-up."

When I set the unit detail to ultra, each soldier type gets two different sorts of faces. When set to lower than ultra, there is no difference at all (all "line infantry" faces are the same, all "general's bodyguard" faces are the same etc). Is it supposed to be like this or is there something wrong with my install?

It's supposed to be like that. That's what the unit detail slider is supposed to change.

There are four faces, so far I've only seen three being used though. There are two sets of uniforms in one texture, two coats, two pants, two sleeves, two hats etc. When you go on the battle field the game mixes and matches all that information so one soldier might have coat 1 and pants 2, hat 1, face three, another might have coat 2 and pants 1, hat 2, face one.

Am I getting this right? Any unit detail setting under Ultra and you won't see these variations? I've been playing on High for the most part and was surprised at the step back from M2 in that there were no variations to be seen. Kinda sucks if the only way to get them is on the very highest unit detail setting, which isn't even available to choose in my game.

I would be fine if only faces changed and had more variety. Uniforms were generally..... uniform.

Cool store, bro! I want some ham.
    No ham, pepsi.
They make deli slices of frozen pepsi now? Awesome!
You also need to purchase a small freezer for storage of your pepsi.
It runs on batteries. You'll need a few.
Uhh, I guess I won't have pepsi then. Do you have change for a twenty?

Yeah, for line infantry. But it'd make sense to have a healthy variety of appearances for militias and such.

Incidentally, I tried changing the unit detail to Ultra manually via the text file but it doesn't translate into the game, even if I make the file a read only one.
