Thread: Roman Education System

    Default Roman Education System

Ok im new to EB (and its superb, wish I'd tried it a LONG time ago)but a very old hand at RTW and RTR.

In my first campaign as Rome, I've made quite a few mistakes, but I'm sticking with it :)

I have already built the highest lvl of Edu in Rome, The Academy. What I used to do with RTR, is send all "coming of age" family members to Rome for higher Edu, hopefully picking up some good ancils and traits. What I have noticed though, is that any Family member without a religious preference, seems to pick up the one of the city he first stays put in for a handful of turns.

Anyways, the questions ;) . Will sending my 16yr olds to study in Rome, cause them ALL to pick up Jupiter religious trait? Will this adversely effect them later governing cities with different religions (e.g. Juno, Vesta etc.) Do the exp plyrs among you think that sending them all to Rome (at least until I have an Academy elsewhere) is a good idea in the first place?

Grt, grt game btw guys. It's like playing RTW for the first time again, but OHH so much more :)

Concerning religion, I'm not sure that governors faithful to one deity will suffer penalties in settlements dedicated to another, rather than just receiving bonuses (though I've no idea what) where there is a match.

In short: I'm not really sure :P this is something I'd like to see cleared up, myself.

The worshipper of ______ trait is practically the easiest to gain and lose. I would not worry about it at all. The education the FMs get is much more valuable. Just be careful, as soon, they will gain a bunch of atheism-related traits. (I love how EB ties intelligence to atheism . But seriously, no sarcasm there)

But anyway, yes, I would like someone to tell me what it does. I checked the EDCT but there seems to be nothing there. I do not really see who having an FM who has the worshipper of X affect his governance in a city with Y temple.

    Welcome Drewski,
It is a great idea to send your new family members to a city with good educational facilities. As the Romani they are all nitwits. I sent all mine to Roma and in a few years i had a bunch of good governers. If you want a general send one around fighting wars or mopping up rebels. i am not sure on the religous preference of the family members, but it is probably not major. Alternatively, you could quickly build a Lvdvs in your new settlements so that you can reap the rewards of their governal skills while they are training, and they will have a preference to the religion that is already in the settlement.

Oh, and besides the atheism traits, also watch out for the Pedantic/Scholastic/Erudite/Cultured trait. Cultured gives you +1 Influence. Erudite, the next level, gives you +1 Management. Scholastic gives you -1 Influence among other things, and the last level, Pedantic, gives you -2. The progression is very swift if you leave that general in a settlement with a school building.

Careful! The trait itself gives you higher chances of quite a bit of other traits, but unless your FM is very sharp, he will only get the Pedantic trait. Seriously, EB trait system has 8 levels of dullness/sharpness and jut about every level, no matter how dull, can get the Pedantic trait. This needs to be nerfed.

Thanks for the info guys. My Faction Leader in Rome had 10 Man, 10 INF, and I was thinking "shame he's 60 already"..so I was grooming his replacement, a 19 yrd old with not a single bad trait, and 4 INF, 4 MAN...the very next season the FL died...the 19 yr old is now 22 and already 9 INF, 8 MAN

I of course made him Faction Deputy :)

Unfortunately (sorta) I have no less than 10 Generals sitting around in Rome, waiting for their fathers to loose their mortal coil, and give them somewhere to manage (20 Settlements all pretty well managed atm).

Just got the Poly reforms in 241BC, the very turn Carthage re-dow on me.....so maybe I'll find them something to do after all...

Friendly forum, might quite like it here
